Tuffy Auto Service Center - Gahanna

I reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 11711542, and find the resolution is satisfactory to me
I beg to differ on that being the national standard of
2.25% for mark up on partsFrom every indication of my research it is on a
sliding scale whereas lower amounts are marked up by 100% but the more
expensive parts are at - 60%To prove my point I called another Tuffy's to
inquire what the charges would be and was quoted $- called a Chrysler
dealership was quoted for the same work $-- called another reputable name
brand garage and their price was $Now I will take responsibility for not doing
my due diligence by calling around for the best price, but I have been taking
my vehicle to Tuffy's for years and thought I was being treated fairlyI do
not begrudge the markup if within reasonYou have my home address from the
invoice to send the true 10% discount.

haven't heard back from her. There is always the chance she didn't get it but, none the less I did make the effort and have the phone record to show that. If I didn't hear from her, I was going to call again the following Monday 9/19/16. The average mark up on a part nationwide is 2.25%. Which every shop in America does, some even at a higher percentage and few at a lower percentage. We charged her under the 2.25%. If she priced out this job at other shops...unless she had a friend of the family do it or a coupon of some sort [redacted] would see that our price is fair and competitive. Most people that aren't familiar with the auto repair industry don't know about that 2.25% average mark up on parts. Even the software shops use calculate that 2.25% built in to the cost. The mark up is so, business can keep their lights on, pay thier employees and make sure we can maintain our equipment so, we can do the work that comes in. Like I said this is a nationwide thing, it's not just us. The price she saw when she looked up the part was if she was going to pick up the part herself and install it her self outside of a shop. I guess a good way to put it is, if you went to the store to buy a steak it's going to be cheaper than at a restaurant because of the items to make the steak and to help keep the business running. Their is mark up on most things people just aren't aware of it. [redacted] does need a refund though. Her 10% of $2.26 or whatever it was should have been around $65.00 instead.
