Tufts University School of Dental Medicine (TUSDM) received the above-referenced customer complaint and appreciates the opportunity to respondDue to the public nature of your complaint process and TUSDM’s responsibility to safeguard the confidentiality and privacy of its patients, I am unable to
fully respond to you regarding these concernsHowever, since your correspondence provided the customer’s contact information and a description of the issue in dispute, we will provide a detailed and thorough response directly to the customer. The customer was seen by two TUSDM Providers on 12/18/and the appropriate level of service was billed to the customerThe customer’s initial TMJ evaluation was continued on 1/23/where she was seen by her original two Providers as well as an additional SpecialistThe customer was not charged for this second visit as it was considered part of a team evaluation approach and was bundled into the initial service charge on 12/18/The customer was also seen by an additional Specialist on 1/23/fora service that was billed separately and is not the subject of this complaint. On 3/20/TUSDM staff left a message with the customer in an attempt to schedule a follow up appointment in the ClinicThe customernever respondedOn 4/13/TUSDM staff documented that they had received multiple telephone calls from a family member of the customer who demanded a refund for the customer’s 12/18/visit and requested to speak with the customer’s ProvidersThe customer is an adult and has not executed an Authorization allowing TUSDM staff to disclose or discuss any of her health or financial information to this family memberThe family member was informed that neither the staff nor the Providers could discuss the customer’s health information until an Authorization was receivedAdditionally, staff asked thefamily member to encourage the customer to call the TUSDM Clinic for anappointmentThe family member indicated that she would contact the Revdex.com if the TUSDM staff continued to refuse the family member’s requests The customer has not contacted the TUSDM Clinic to schedule a follow up appointmentIt should be noted that the customer had been previously discontinued as a TUSDM patient in a separate Clinic for failed appointments and a lack of response to TUSDM staff’s repeated attempts toschedule follappointments
