Tune-Up Plus+ Reviews (2)

Review: I took my 2012 Mercedes Benz in to obtain a Maryland State inspection, which is required by the MDV and the employee on duty conducted an inspection of my car. After about 30 minutes he came back and informed me my car failed an inspection and that I would need two new back tires in order to pass inspection. I told him that's impossible the car is new and he then said he could sale me two new tires for $450. I declined the offer and told him I only get my car serviced at the Mercedes dealer and proceeded to contact the Mercedes dealer to schedule maintenance. The Tune-Up employee then printed the receipt and told me I had 1000 miles or 30 days to return for a re-inspection.

I know my car is in pristine condition so I drove down the street to the nearest car dealership and requested a state inspection. I passed the inspection.

In this time of financial hardship its mind boggling to think a business would try and cheat a customer out of money. I'm requesting a full refund of my money and an investigation into the unethical sales practices that I experienced at Tune-Up Plus in [redacted], Maryland. I'm sure I'm not the only person that has been affected by them.Desired Settlement: The business has the responsibility to refund my money, conduct an internal review of its sales practices, and report back to the Revdex.com on what they've done to ensure no one else is presented with unethical sales practices.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: I should not have to prove that my tires are within Maryland standards given that a reputable dealership less than a mile from the company inspected and found nothing wrong with the tires or anything else. The passing of the Maryland inspection from a reputable dealership immediately after leaving their shop should be enough evidence for the company to assess and refund the money and review its sales practices. Additionally, a re-evaluation of the tires will not resolve the larger issue of unethical sales practices. Therefore I respectfully decline the offer, request a refund, and a review of the company's sales practice.

Regards,

I have reviewed the last 90 days, of Inspections. I found that 63% passed and 37% failed. Of that 37% that failed 3% were for tires, Based on those numbers I do not see an alarming trend in tire failure. There is no incentive in place to sell tires and there is no directive, from myself or anyone else to sell tires that do not fail.

In order to do any further evaluation I would need to measure your tires and compare that against the measurements from the dealership. I am willing to do this based on your complaint. I cannot do this without the vehicle and the paperwork from the dealership. Both of these requests have been denied.

Review: On July 28,2014 I spoke to Mr. Roger R[redacted] (Manager) about conducting a MD State inspection on my 2005 [redacted] to inform me of what repairs need to be done besides needing new shocks. Mr. R[redacted] called me after his company (Tune-Up Plus + completed the inspection. at that time he informed of the following things that should be taken care of: Full Service Conventional GF-5S/N, new oil/filter, Trans Flush, Vehicle Specific Fluid installed, Rear Differential, Gear Box Fluid, New Spark Plugs, Iridium Spark Plug, Premium Plug Wire Set, Shock Absorber- R&R, Reflex Truck Shock, Reflex Shock, R&R Park Shoes, Pads & Rotors, Rear Pads, Park Shoes, 2 Wheel Alignment, Full Injection Cleaning and Seafoam Cleaner. I gave Mr. R[redacted] the okay to complete the work which the parts cost $980.56 and the labor cost $891.99. I picked up my truck close to closing time for Tune-Up Parts. At that time I didn't notice the damage to my rear wheel liner. The next morning I noticed that both rear wheel liners were cut so the mechanic could get to the bolts to replace my shocks. I notified Mr. R[redacted] of the damage and took my truck back to the shop so he could see it with both his eyes. After Mr. R[redacted] looked at the damage he stated that it didn't look like it was a fresh cut and that it was only a guy named George and himself working that day. I informed Mr. R[redacted] that I haven't had my shocks changed since I brought the truck in 2007 and now the liner has been cut exactly where the bolts are for the shocks. Mr. R[redacted] continued to say that they didn't do it, so I requested the General Managers and/or the owners information. Mr. R[redacted] provided me with the General Manger's name which is his brother (Chris A. R[redacted]).. I told Mr. Roger R[redacted] that I would return to talk to Mr. Chris R[redacted] about my vehicle when he returns to work. I met with Mr. Chris R[redacted] approximately 2 - 3 days after talking to Mr. Roger R[redacted]. Mr. Chris R[redacted] looked at the vehicle and stated that he could see how I could say that one of his employees could have but he can't say that they did. Mr. Chris R[redacted] stated that none of his employees would have a reason to lie to him about damaging my vehicle. Unlike his brother, Mr. Chris R[redacted] said that there was 4 people working that day which including himself in the count. At that point I requested the owners information and he stated that he couldn't give the owners (Richard V[redacted]) phone number and he doesn't live in the area. Mr. Chris R[redacted] asked me what did I want done and I told him that I would like my 2 rear Wheel Liners replaced> I also informed him that I stopped pass the dealership to see how much the would cost( Approx. $300 for both minus the labor). He stated that even if they paid for them that they still made a profit off of me.

On August 12, 2014 I had to take my truck to a shop to look at my truck because it started to over heat (2 weeks after getting work done by Tune-Up Plus+). I informed the mechanic about the work that Tune-Up Plus+ has done to my truck and they didn't have any thing good to say about the company and said that the truck shouldn't have over heated especially sine they just did some work on it. On August 13, 2014 I had to take off work and take the truck to get fix. I took the truck to a different shop and had them look over it bumper to bumper and I informed them of the work that Tune-Up Plus + had done for me. After they looked over the truck, they informed that who ever changed my shocks cut the wheel liner to get to the bolts and that some of the service that Tune-Up Plus + stated they did couldn't have been done.

I also have pictures of the damage and unfinished business, Please notify if the pics will helpDesired Settlement: Refund of labor cost ($891.99) and Payment to replace both rear Wheel Liners

08/20/141. As I told [redacted]. I have no way of telling him when or who cut the holes in his fender liners.I do know that neither myself nor Roger R[redacted] instructed anyone to do so. We also did not see anyone do so, I asked every employee that set foot in the bldg. that day if they cut them. They all said they did not. I told everyone that there would be no consequences if they told me that they cut the holes. Again they all said they did not.2. I have no idea why [redacted] vehicle had to be taken to a shop for overheating. As you can see Tune Up Plus did no work on the cooling system. The vehicle is 9 years of d and has over 100,000 miles on it. Prior to our work [redacted] stated he has not done rmuch to the vehicle. I will be glad to look at the vehicle or speak to [redacted] or the repair shop about the problem. Based on this letter I see rid proof or reasoning of a correlation between our work and the overheating issue. If there is some other information on that will be glad to address it. However there are literally thousands of things that could go wrong or need to replaced/repaired on this vehicle. We cannot automatically be held responsible for all of them simply because we worked on the vehicle 2 weeks ago.3. Please provide me with a list of the specific work that this other unnamed shop said we did not perform. The oil change, trans flush and differential service were recorded by our surveillance camera. I will be glad to show this to anyone who wants to see it. The invoice has every part number listed on it. I will be glad to re-order any part listed. I will be glad to remove said part from the vehicle, I will be glad to let [redacted] compare the part I remove to the brand new part so he can see that it was done. only ask that if all the parts remove are indeed brand new parts that [redacted] pay me the labor charges for removing and reinstalling. I would suggest that he then seek reimbursement from the unnamed shop that said we did not perform the work.As I told [redacted] there is no evidence that anyone at my shop did this. I do not believe that they did this and I respectfully denied the claim. Now we have another shop involved that was not present during any of the work. However they feel they can tell us exactly what happened just by looking at the vehicle, I would welcome the opportunity to speak to the manager or owner of this unnamed shop,Chris R

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved] Review: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:

1. Both the General Manager(GM) & Manager are Brothers which is a conflict of issue. The Manager stated that only 2 people was working that day but the General Manager stated that there was 4 people working that day. The General Manager continues to say that he asked every employee if they damaged my vehicle and they responded with they didn't cut the rear wheel liners (See Attachments).

2. Like the general managers stated in his reply I didn't tell him and his brother that I have not had my shocks replaced since I brought my truck. Which means that I would have noticed if my wheel liner was cut and especially right where the bolts are located to replace them (See Attachments). He also stated that the service was recorded by the surveillance camera. Did the general manager, manager and owner look at the tapes to even see if they saw which employee cut the wheel liner? This is the first time the surveillance camera was even mention. I felt like that should have been offered to me when I informed the GM of the situation.

3. The other unnamed shops, one shop was a private own and the other two are well named franchises shops that looked at my vehicle and stated that the work couldn't have been done. As for the GM stating that I would have to pay his company for the labor(removing and reinstalling), his company will not get any more of my money or anyone I know & talk to.

4. I also ask to talk to the owner and was denied. I believe a issue like this should have some kind of reply from the store owner.
