explains how it was driven for about a year then the clutch was removed two years later. He told us that there was approximately 20,000 miles on the clutch when he stopped driving it in 2012. When he informed us about his friend having similar experiences with his Performance clutch we researched his friend’s purchase history. We only found one small order many years ago which was not a clutch. We think his friend might be confusing his clutch purchase with another company as there was nothing in our records indicating a clutch purchase. If his friend can provide proof of his purchase from our company we would be glad to assist him.We have spoken with [redacted] on numerous occasions regarding his Performance clutch issues. A conference call was initiated by us with our East Coast manufacturer during one of the conversations. The owner requested that [redacted] provide detailed photographs so that he may assist him in determining the cause of the failure. Our supplier has been in business since 1982 and focuses primarily on new custom Performance/Race clutches like the one [redacted] purchased. They also rebuild Historic/Classic clutches which ranks them even higher in their industry compared to most other companies that merely assemble new parts. There are only a handful of clutch companies that actually rebuild Original Equipment clutches for older cars as they do. Like brake pads, windshield wipers, etc., clutches are a wear item and the Standard Warranty is normally 12 Months/12,000 miles. Performance Race clutches, like the one [redacted] purchased, are assembled with higher friction ceramic material to provide the maximum holding power. Clutch life is sacrificed when the higher friction pucks are used on these Race type clutches. In the industry Race type clutches are generally covered by a limited warranty or sometimes none at all. This is due to the harsh environment they are going to be subjected to. Our manufacturer reviewed the photos but could not pinpoint the cause of failure due to the quality of the pictures. Because it had been 3 years since the purchase of the clutch and they had driven it for 20,000 miles his warranty claim was denied so we had no recourse with our manufacturer for replacement or compensation. In good faith though, we did offer [redacted] a $100. discount towards a replacement unit. He did not accept our offer so we decided to put him directly in touch with our manufacturer as they might be able to provide him with something more appealing. As far as we know our clutch manufacturer never received a call from [redacted] regarding his Performance clutch. We are sympathetic to [redacted] situation. Unfortunately, too much time has transpired since his purchase. Had he contacted us within that first year when he first started having problems we would have been able to help him out by working with our supplier. Our offer still stands for $100. credit towards a new clutch and we are sure the door is still open to work directly with our manufacturer on some type of credit as well.Sincerely,
