I'm trying to obtain a refund of my deposit plus damages for the unacceptable and incorrect work done by [redacted] during my bathroom remodel. I hired [redacted] to remodel my master bathroom in July 2013. There were numerous problems and examples of unprofessionalism from the beginning, but I hung in there, believing in his good word and promises of a beautiful bathroom. The final straw came when his employees, [redacted] and [redacted], finished their tile work in my shower. The work was horrible; uneven tiles, sloppy grout, mortar showing through where grout should be, cracks in the grout on the shower floor, holes in the grout, etc etc etc. This was in addition to the sloppy paint job, damage to my wood floor, damage to my carpet, $800 worth on damage to my living room ceiling from a water leak they caused upstairs, not covering my brand new furniture properly to protect it from the from the dust, etc etc etc. I called a stop to the project and kicked them all out. I opened up a phone book and found another painter and a professional tile installer to come over, just to give me their honest, unbiased opinions of the work that had been done so far in my master bathroom. The painters exact words were "If my crew painted a room like this, I'd fire every one of them..." The professional tile installer said that the tile indeed looked bad, but he was far more concerned with what [redacted] and his crew did underneath the tile. He said it appeared that they did not do some very important things, like installing a vapor barrier, etc. We wouldn't know for sure until we removed the tile and took a look.Long story short, I have hired a new contractor to remove all the shoddy work done by [redacted] and his crew. And thank God we did; all kinds of discoveries were made when my new contractor removed everything [redacted] did. The most important, shocking discovery was when we removed all the shower tile and removed the shower floor (which was never flood tested, by the way) and found that the drain pipe was not even connected to the main pipe. Had I not fired [redacted] from the job and allowed his crew of clowns to finish my bathroom, my very first shower would have leaked right through the floor and into my living room below. [redacted] never pulled any plumbing or electrical permits or had any plumbing or electrical inspections done (or the drain pipe that was not connected would have surely been discovered). I checked with Shelby County Code Enforcement and they verified that [redacted] never pulled any permits or applied for inspections. Permits and inspections are required when you change or add electrical or plumbing like [redacted] did in my bathroom. As if all of this is not bad enough, [redacted] has not and will not pay one the workers he hired to repair my living room ceiling. They are now contacting me to see if I will pay them since [redacted] has decided not to pay them what he had promised. I am seeking a refund of my $4442.00 down payment, $800 to repair my living room ceiling properly and $1500 which is what I had to pay my new contractor to remove all of [redacted]s shoddy work and document and photograph his findings of improper installation. This guy is not a responsible and honest businessman.We use this company call Turk Tile & Stone to do the construction on a restaurant for us. He told us the construction only take about 3 weeks, then after one month nothing been done yet,I called him he told me he needs more money to pay for the material and to pay for his guys labor so he can get things gone quickly, so we gave him more money, after weeks gone by I called him he said because of the permits problem that why everything got delayed anyway but he said he still needs more money for the tiles then we gave him more money and he promised that it will be done by the end of the month otherwise he will pay us $100 a day until the job done. Another month went by still nothing finished we called him, then he said he needs more money to get some more materials to finished it, but I told him we already paid him more than what he done.. we already paid him 80% of what he quoted and 3 months nothing done yet. I told him we not going to pay him anymore money, unless he completed the job first. So he never come back to finish it up he left me with a big mess. I have to find someone else to finish it up. I will reserve my right to file a lawsuit against him later.I just hope after this nobody will fall for his trap again..just stay away from this guy "[redacted]". I just found out that we are not the first victim, there are few of our customer also had the same problem with him when they hire him to do their tile and balcony. Desired SettlementWe just want part of our money back, because this cause me a lot of time and money to hire different company to finish his mess.And his business license should be revoked.
