The State of Ohio gives each student 6 months to complete a driving school course. There is a contract that has to be signed by each student's parent in order for it to be a valid contract. Mr. [redacted] wife signed their son's contract. His 6 month date to be completed with our driving school...

was May 7 2017. His son was not completed by that date. He finished the classroom portion but not the in-cars. I placed a call to Mr. [redacted] wife on April 4 2017 and left a message to remind her that her son had to be completed with his in-cars before May 7 2017 and that he still needed to complete one of the requirements before he could schedule his in-cars. I never received a response from either until May 8th when the mom called to schedule the in-cars. I explained to her the situation and that I had called and left a message on April 4th. She told me that she had deleted the message. Sometime later that same day Mr. [redacted] called and asked to schedule his sons in-cars and I explained to him the same thing I had explained to his wife. We are not allowed to let someone continue with the driving school when their contract has expired. That is a State rule we must follow. Our contract states that "students will be dropped on day one hundred eighty (180) from Jacks Driving School without receiving any refund, if they have not completed the entire Driver's Education Course". Once again the contract was signed by his wife and when I had called to remind them of the expiration date she deleted my voicemail. I feel like we honored our part of the contract. I even tried to call and remind them  but never received a response until after the May 7th date had passed.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.
I paid for the driving program with a personal check on Nov 7th.  I never saw any contract or received any communication about expiration.  I don’t know what if any communication happened with my son’s mother, who is my ex-wife, but she is not financially responsible for the transaction and as the payer, I never saw nor signed any contract. I did contact the school on May 8th to schedule the in-car lessons, and when the manager explained his position, I suggested four options for the school to deliver what was purchased including:  an extension to the timing, providing the 8 hours of in car lessons but not a completion certificate for the program, a refund for portion of the fee for the unused in car lessons or a credit for those lessons applied to tuition for another sibling.  All of those options were refused resulting in this complaint.   The situation remains that Jack’ driving school did not deliver the in-car lessons for which I paid and has refused to provide any consideration. At this point, to close the matter, I would accept a fifty percent refund of my $440 payment, that is $220, as consideration in lieu of the 8 hours of in-car lessons that were not delivered, even though the school values those lessons at $60/hour on their website.   I will then find another venue for driving lessons for my children.
