So we were looking for a used SUV nothing great mainly for a work truck for the next few months, so we weren't looking for great condition. We spoke to [redacted], who I must say had a good hussle going, we asked her what issues were wrong with the 2002 Ford Expedition. She only mentioned she had the rear end completely redone, radiator was replaced and the manifold was replaced, but her mechanic checked out the rest of the SUV and said it was in great other than the physical wear and tear. "It's been checked out,safe, and not going to find a better deal any where else" I have to admit, she made us feel good, "I don't want to screw anyone",ect,.......she mentioned she buys the mechanics beer on Fridays and honestly we thought....wow she really shows her appreciation for hard workers. But not What we thought at all...[redacted] we were driving a ticking bomb.
Day 1: we take the 2002 Ford Expedition, take it on the highway the SUV starts to stall, we go back the radiator is over heating spilling out. She seems shocked. She tells us don't worry mechanic will fix it.
Day 2: we go back and wanted to take the SUV to get a diagnostics after what happened the day before. [redacted] seems nerves and starts mentioning"it's as is, it's as is".. we tell her we want the SUV but need to make sure that it only needs little work like she had said. She gives us a dirty and says okay. Take the car to Greulich's, an ASE mechanic ( [redacted], voted 4th best mechanic in AZ.,great guy) [redacted] (the manager) gets working on the truck and a couple of hours later we start thinking "it's really taking long", we go back to check in and [redacted] says you better come out here so my guy can tell you the news. Here's why I posted my first review: A/C compressor, front brakes are 90% worn out causing severe brake disc damage, brake hydraulics (caliper is twisted mounted improperly, front shock leaking, idle arm is loose, sway bar has been welded, frame bent, rod boot damage , those are only some of the expensive things not including engine.
Mechanics is telling me a sharp turn or bumpy road can flip the SUV. They went on to say the mechanics just built it up and rigged it to drive drive a few miles basically. I call [redacted] and ask her whats going on, and does she have paperwork on the work she said she did on the SUV. Her response well I just have the receipts that shows I got some of the parts.......What! Then I ask is your mechanics ASE? Nope they're back yard mechanics, and don't even do the work themselves, a another shop does the work, "so where's the receipt that shows the work was done". Greulich's closes at 5:30pm [redacted], [redacted] and [redacted] stayed extra just print up the costs for us. We take the the disaster back of course after having a conversation and she won't even talk to us just says " okay,okay, that's fine".
So here's the warning on the SUV and [redacted] Auto Sales on 29th st. If your car can kill you and your family and they don't care (SUV sitting now in the front lot for all too see and buy) shame on them, the owner should take more interest on being honest and remember families drive in her vehicles.
