Turner Falls Park

The incident in question occurred on July, 25, 2017, at the Fall Pool Area located inside Turner Falls Park. At the Falls Pool Area there are buoys restricting an area where on swimming is allowed. The buoys are
clearly marked and are in place for the safety of our park patrons.It is simply unsafe...

to swim behind the buoys, which is why they are placed in the Falls Pool. Upon arrival to the swimming area I found several people in the restricted area. I approached the area and blew
my whistle several times trying to get their attention, with the exception of 2 people in the party, my requests and actions were
completely ignored. This group completely ignored my
request for them to come to shore and to obey the
buoy area restriction.Normally when
guests are addressed about this violation they are simply asked to leave the pool area and allowed to swim elsewhere in
the park.  It was only after I had gotten the assistance of the Assistant Police Chief that these people finally came out of the water. They
were at that time
instructed that theyHad to leave the park because they had blatantly ignored lawful commands and posted safety·regulations.                              ...⇄ · ·  ·                                      ...⇄ ·    ·TheY. were not however escorted out of the
park, because of an emergency call that came over the radio at that time that required both the Assistant Police  Chief 
and my immediate attention. 
It  should be noted that the 2
ladies that came out of the water when I first blew my whistle and addressed the' p art y were allowed to use the other swimming areas.I can assure you neither myself or the
Assistant Police Chief used any improper or derogatory language while
addressing this party. That type of action or communication would not be tolerated by any park
representative at any t ime. We also did not escort this party out of the park, as we had to address the
emergency call and give that situation our attention. I regret for this party that they did not have a
good experience
when they visited our park, however it 
is imperat ive that
we have  safety regulations  and rules in
place for the safety of our guests, whether they realize the dangers to 
themselves or not. We were simply enforcing said rules and regulations on
this day. Our park has a no refund policy as is clearly stated on our maps and on our web site.Here at Turner Falls Park we strive for good
customer service and providing a wonderful park experience for each of our
guests as return business is important to us. We have in the  vicinity of 300,000 guests visit our park
each year, as high as 80% of our guests are Hispanic or ano t her ethnicity, we do
not and would not allow any guest to be treated differently or discriminat ed against based
upon their race, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability or for any
other reason.I must stress that the park rules and regulations are in
place for the safety of our guests and must be enforced, it is unfortunate that this party simply ignored my requests and commands and the result was asking them to leave the park.We feel we have done everything possible to address the sit uat ion and to cover the park rule sand protocol with our employees.
