Turning Winds Academic Institute Reviews (4)

We sent our son to Turning Winds as we were seeking help with his declining attitude, drug abuse, and lack of motivation in school. We did not get what we paid heavily for. My son was given drugs to use and was sniffing sharpies in the classrooms with other students. They assured us that contact between the girls and boys was not allowed. This was not true. There were meters exchanged and there was physical contact in the form of hugging and kissing. The staff 'looked the other way'. Contrary to their assurances, they did use physical force with the kids even when there was no threat present. They allowed the use of laptops and the internet for the kids to look up things as they wished. Also supplied by the staff. They did not report issues to us as the parents such as when our so. Tried to leave or 'made out' with a girl in the program. The staff informed me that they took my son to the dentist and doctor when these appointments. Ever actually took place.

+1

Turning Winds changed our son's life. He was failing high school, taking drugs and even had issues with the law. He graduated high school from TW with honors and even received an academic scholarship to a major private university. He is a kind and thoughtful young man. He is a complete joy in our lives. I can't imagine where he would be if we hadn't sent him to TW. If you are a struggling parent of a teen, I would encourage you strongly to get the help they can offer. If you are searching for help, you know you cant do it by yourself anymore. Let TW take over your struggle. We consider the staff "family" now. They are amazing.

I have had the opportunity to see Turning winds. Yes it is beautiful out there. But I really don't think that the punishments are appropriate for these kids. as cold as it is up there how dare you leave them outside like that from early morning until late at night. Unbelievable. and as for the last review I think that person was right about Turning winds. These kids are brainwashed. I never heard of a place not allowing a parent to have access to their child for a long time. and they are afraid to talk on the phone when they finally get tat phone call. and who lets another child cut a childs hair. or chop it up. I hate that place. I would never send another child there they also pump them full of antidepressants to keep them in check. Shame on you all.

My experience with Turning Winds was one filled with excitement and joy. I am so thankful for all of the staff and professionals that have worked so hard to make this a success for me and my family. They are truly able to reach these children in a way that we are unable to do on our own. Turning Winds delivered for me and my family when we needed them. My life and the lives of my family members has been forever changed because of what Turning Winds has done for us. A HUGE THANK YOU to all of you for the difference you have made.
