Review: Hi,I googled mortgage lenders in CT and found the website for Tuthill Finance. I navigated through their website and ended up putting in several personal elements into their form. After submission, an error message was received and my PC was routed to a pornographic website. As this was concerning, I called the number and actually spoke to a woman receptionist who was terse with me and did not confirm that I submitted information to me. After a few sarcastic comments from her, she hung up the phone. My concern is that they ask for and received some information that is personal. They also included a request for a social security number (which I did not provide). I am also very concerned that they do not have the proper controls in place to handle confidential data.

I would like to make sure they've either destroyed my information or have proper process in place to ensure that the data is properly stored and protected. I'd like to begin this response by first saying that our clients' privacy is paramount to our company as is the security of their personal information. We respect every aspect of their loan and their mortgage needs from our very first contact until their loan is closed and throughout the remainder of our working relationship. Their cares and concerns are our cares and concerns.

In over 30 years of doing business, this is the first complaint against us to my knowledge.

The telephone call in question did occur; however, the caller did not identify himself and instead began the conversation in a very vulgar manner and, actually, I honestly thought it was an obscene phone call. It left me with a very strange and unsettling feeling. The person on the other line used inappropriate language from the moment we first spoke, and it made me extremely uncomfortable. I would have referred him to my manager, but my manager was out of the office at the time.

After the awkwardness of his vulgarity and then his twice mention of a pornographic website, I still asked how I could assist him although I was uncertain if his inappropriateness would continue. He then said he just wanted to make certain that we were a mortgage company to which I replied affirmatively indicating that we had been so for over 30 years. I then politely thanked him for checking in with us before I wished him a nice day and then ended the telephone conversation immediately.

The telephone call was so disturbing, it left me with an uneasy feeling for the remainder of the day. If I had thought for one moment it was legitimate and he was a bona fide customer, I wholeheartedly would have reacted differently; but since our customers have never engaged me in such an inappropriate manner in the 18 years I have been employed here, I felt it best to end the call as soon as possible.

We can assure you that any information received by this individual has been securely destroyed and will never be used without his permission.

We can further assure you that our business is legitimate and has been so for 37 years. Many of our customers have been with us for several of those years and many have worked with us repeatedly to their satisfaction.
