Tuxedo Distributors Reviews (%countItem)

I purchased a Tuxedo brand model TP9KAC-TUX automotive lift with a rated lifting capacity of 9,000 lbs.
• The lift was delivered missing the power unit. The power unit was delivered a week later.
• While installing the unit a hose was shipped with the wrong end attached. The correct hose was sent after additional e-mails and phone calls an additional week later.
• I lifted my truck (2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 gas powered) that has an approximate curb weight between 6,236 to 6,689 lbs. Upon inspection of the lift arms I noticed the metal tubing was deflecting over 1 inch and the tubes were also twisting.
• The material that this lift is manufactured with is inferior and in my opinion unsafe to be under while a vehicle is in the air.
• I lowered the truck and have not lifted anything else. I certainly would not lift anything near the 9,000 lb. advertised capacity of this lift.
• I have contacted *** with Tuxedo Distributors and initially I was optimistic he was going to correct the situation. We discussed exchanging this lift for a different make and model that the company offers with better quality. He said he would discuss it with his *** and contact me the following day.
• The following day *** called me to report he was reluctant to present the situation to management because they would consider the purchase to be my fault for buying the wrong lift.
• I responded to *** that I purchased a lift with a capacity of almost 3,000 lbs. more than what I am attempting to use it for. In no way am I accepting responsibility for purchasing the wrong unit. The issue is clearly with the inferior material being stressed beyond its limits.
• I informed *** that I would pursue this matter and file a complaint with the Revdex.com.
I purchased the correct size / capacity lift for my needs but obviously not the correct brand made with quality materials. I am a mechanic by trade and have been working in the industry for over 30 years. I have never in my career worked under a lift in which the arms bent and twisted like this one.

I wanted to
take the time to address your opinion/concerns pertaining to the design & performance
of the TP9KAC-TUX two post automotive lift you recently purchased online.
According to your email it seems your primary issue pertains to the
lift’s capacity rating and performance, based on the amount of deflection
specific to the swing arms after raising your 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500HD
truck. In fact, it’s normal for the swing arms to deflect, especially as
they reach their max capacities of 2,250 lbs. per each swing arm.

For
clarification purposes, there are some variables not specific to the lift that
may increase swing arm deflection. Being that each swing arm on the TP9K has a
maximum weight capacity of 2,250 lbs., it is imperative the vehicle does not
exceed the specified weight per arm or an inordinate amount of deflection may
occur. For example, trucks that have an axle weight of more than 4,500 lbs. in
either the front or the rear should not be lifted, even If the vehicles total
curb weight is still under the 9,000 lbs. lift capacity. It’s also
imperative, especially when loading long wheel base vehicles, that the operator
correctly positions the vehicle so that the lifting swing arms & pads has
the proper weight distributed evenly among the swing arms for proper operation,
especially with an asymmetric Swing Arm configuration. We strongly
feel your opinion of the lift’s swingarm having inferior material and/or
workmanship is simply not valid and untrue. Our TP9K series lifts are one
of the best-selling lifts in our product line, as well as in the USA, and is simply evident by
the thousands already sold & operated for many years with satisfied
customers.

As for the power unit, that was a shipping problem with the LTL carrier and simply beyond our control. The hose was a minor warranty issue that we resolved immediately for you. I do recognize the frustration and am sorry for that, but believe we did take care of the issues immediately.

With all of this said, we do not want you to be dissatisfied and are willing to work with you. Typically there would be a 15% minimum restocking fee because we cannot sell this lift as new any longer; however I will waive that for you. You would therefore only be paying the shipping charges both ways, and the upgrade cost for a lift that you are happier with. Please let us know if you would like to proceed with exchanging your lift.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

I am willing to accept the exchange and pay the difference for the upgraded lift. It was never my intention to get something I haven't paid for. I appreciate the waiving of the 15% restocking fee. I think these two concessions are fair. I do not see the need to pay shipping costs due to the fact that I am willing to deliver this lift to the *** warehouse location and pick up the upgraded lift.

In response to my opinion being invalid or untrue I would like to add the following:

You addressed the deflection (bending) of the arms but did not address the twisting. Deflection is one thing, that combined with twisting is quite another.

I have weighed my truck and the front axle is 3700 lbs and the rear is 2900 lbs. Neither anywhere near the 4500 lbs you referred to. It is roughly 73% of the rated capacity for this lift.

I am lifting it at the manufacturers lift points for proper weigh distribution.

A review section would be a great addition to your website, so we could see customer feedback for ourselves, good or bad.

To reiterate what I said in my complaint, I have been in this industry for over 30 years and never felt this unsafe under a lift.

Regards

Hi ***

I mentioned shipping because any returns must come back to our Texas facility. Please confirm if you have all of the shipping brackets, and if you can ensure that this lift would return to Texas successfully. If so I will cover the shipping back to Texas from the FL warehouse. You can also place the TP9 rubber pads and rubber door guards that we sent you free of charge in the return, and can keep the oil drain if you'd like. The cost difference between the TP9KAC-TUX and TP11KC-DX is $720. Please let me know if you'd like to proceed with this exchange and we can arrange payment and get the information sent to the *** warehouse.

Thanks

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

I have the brackets to ship the lift back but I do not have the original carboard box the power unit came in. I can package it and secure it to the posts. It will make the trip successfully. I will include the box of lift pads and the oil drain with the lift. Of course I will gladly pay the difference of $720.

To Whom it May Concern:

I am very sorry this is the first response you are receiving. I am the ***, and this is the first notice I have received from the Revdex.com regarding this issue. It is possible the previous notices went to an old email address or spam? Please ensure my email address is linked to our account.

In regards to this gentleman's complain, as with most situations, this is "his" side of the story. I remember this vividly, because my ***, ***, was so upset when he got off the phone call. ***'s version is quite the opposite, in that it was the customer who started screaming and cursing once he was told that his lift would not be covered under warranty. I'm not sure if the customer sent you images of his product, but it's very clear that it has been sitting outside for a very long time in the elements, which it is not meant for. He was upset about the cosmetic appearance of rust, but unfortunately that happens when you leave it out in the rain for months on end. We agreed to send touch up paint at no cost as a courtesy to this customer, but that was the extent of which we felt was fair. You can speak to some of our very long time distributors who will tell you that we bend over backwards to take care of our customers, and are more than fair; however it is not fair that this customer wants to either return for a full credit or have us pay for someone to completely repaint his entire unit (which would cost more than the value of this economical line of machine he went with), when he's the one that did not take care of his product.

Please let me know if you have any further questions. I can also obtain a written statement from my ***, as well as provide you with all of the images representing the type of environment this lift was being used in.

Thank you
