weeks and was warned many times that it would be towed if not removed off the property.
Our charge for a private property tow starts at $125.00 and goes up from there. If we have to use skates or go-jacks the price goes up. There were no keys to the car when we arrived, so the driver had to use skates to load the car onto our flatbed. The total of the tow should have been $150.00.
The car sat in our lot till Monday August 25, 2015. We charge $30.00 a day for storage. The car was on our lot for 5 days (30x5=$150). We charged the customer for 4 days not the 5 days totaling $120.00. When they went to get the car out of our lot, the son that came to get the car did not have the right key, so we had to unlock the car for him. The charge to unlock a car is $75.00 and we didn't charge him anything. After getting into the car it wouldn't start. We charge $45.00 for a jump start and only charged the son $20.00. The car would not stay running. The son of Ms. [redacted] asked us to tow it to Ms. [redacted]'s house. Our towing charges to tow in town are $50.00, we charged him $45.00.
Looking back at what we should have charged them ($470.00) and what we did charge them ($310.00). She was charged a fair discount.
If you go to the mall or other parking lots in town, towing companies are getting $125.00 to $200.00 to just tow off private property that doesn't include the go-jacks or skates. They were warned to move the car and neglected to, so they had to pay the consequences.
We are sorry she thinks the charges are unfair, but being in business for 95+ year, we at Tuxhorn Towing think our prices are fair.
