Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/07/21) */
When [redacted] moved into the property he was given a move in check list to provide a list of things missing, broken or damaged prior to the move in. We never received this form from him.
We are required by the city of St Louis Park (not...

Minneapolis) to pass an annual inspection, which would include smoke alarms and Co2 detectors. These items would be in place prior to the move in and would be required to hold a rental license. When the city inspection report indicated these were needed we replaced them and the license was approved.
These charges would be billed to the tenant, since they were there at the time he moved in. He was not billed 5 times the amount, on 10/16/13 $30 for the Co2 detector (which runs from $20-$70). On 12/3/13 $52.50 was billed for the smoke alarm (runs from $20-$50).
In the end [redacted] has come out ahead since there were 2 late fees billed totaling $184 (late rent on April and May 2015. There is also a charge for the furnace filter that was never paid.
[redacted] has indicated the charges $82.50 were taken from his deposit. As you will see in the attached notice there was not a deduction for these charges.
