We applied for a VA loan with BTJ Mortage in *** ** From the beginning this seemed amiss I had to supply everything to *** *** (loan originator) and his intake assistant not once but twice because no one could find my loan documents During the entire loan process I had constantly call to get updates on my loan The loan intake person blamed it on the originator and then the originator told me to copy him on everything I sent to her blah blah blah....this entire process was a train wreck from the get go Eventually, we, our realtor, and the seller's realtor were informed that we had an automated underwriting approval and were scheduled to close by March 4, Then a few days later the processor called and needed a few more pieces of info which I had to finally go into their office and get on their personal laptop to print up because they claim the statements I had sent them were illegible Then a few days before close, we were informed that they needed my first pays
My husband and I applied for construction loan through Bank of the James in *** ** We worked with *** *** on it We started the process in April and in June received preliminary approval assuming a $40,down payment on land and dwelling Throughout the process, we were dissatisfied with the slow service, consistent requests for information which we should have been asked for initially, and lack of attention After the appraisal was completed, we were told we could close only if we put an additional $22,down This was unacceptable to us as we simply don't have that type money sitting around AND were previously pre-approved At that point, we decided to contact another lender to see what they could offer for us, and after evaluating the situations, we decided to forego further involved with Bank of the James and instead switched to the other lender since according to them a $40,down payment was more than sufficient Because the appraisal has been complete
