Twin Peaks Auto Repair stands behind their work 100% When a customer is unhappy and brings the car back we will diagnose and treat what we believe is the problem If the car leaves our shop running well, but is returned for a problem the customer believes was caused by one of our installed parts and/or labor we bring the car back in and do a free investigation of the problem, and if it is indeed something we repaired or replaced, we will fix the problem at no cost to the customer However, once the customer replaces parts and works on their own car, we cannot guarantee the work or the parts, because that was/is not within our control When [redacted] left our shop, his car was running well and was not squealing When he chose to replace parts himself, he voided our guarantee Therefore when he brought the car back in and we saw that he had replaced parts, and he admittedly did the work himself, we had to halt work on the car immediately

When I initially brought my vehicle to Twin Peaks it was idling fine and had NO squeak from the belt area. After Twin Peaks did the approved work, I did return to the shop 2 days later to report the squeak. Twin peaks stated it may be from residual fluid from the initial repair and changed my serpentine belt. (Why change the belt if there was no squeak as the owner stated in his reply?) I then chose to replace two parts and another belt instead of taking it back and possibly have Twin Peaks charge me $200 more. Doing so did not repair the squeak. I emailed the owner explaining that these issues were not present until after the initial repair work that Twin Peaks performed. The owner said to bring the vehicle in and they would inspect for free. The owner then called and said the alternator was going bad and quoted around $300 to fix. I approved. He then called back and asked who had done the other replacements, which I told him I had. Twin Peaks immediately stopped work and when I picked the vehicle up the owner stated the belt tensioner I had installed was bent. I went and replaced the alternator, squeak was still there, I replaced the so called bent tensioner, squeak was still there. I finally installed a specialty belt for $18 and what do you know the squeak is gone.  My complaint is how many times would I have needed to bring my car in to remove a serpentine belt squeak, and at what cost to me before they actually fixed what wasn't there before I brought my vehicle in for the initial repairs. (As well as address the idle issue which was not present until they did engine work to fix certain leaks.)   If anything I am asking that they repay for the parts that I replaced myself, that they would have replaced and charged me for that were not the underlying cause of the squeak that wasn't present in the first place. Which would be $250, this does not include my labor involved which is free.  Also not sure how my replacement of parts for work not initially done for a particular area would void a warranty for the initial work which was oil cooler lines, valve cover gaskets, shocks, power steering pressure hose, harmonic balancer (something I am sure they removed my initial serpentine belt for), and pinion seal.  Nothing to do with belt tensioner, idler pulley and new belt that I did.
