Review: We hired Digital Security Systems to install a camera/intercom door control system and an interior camera security system. We signed off on the estimate on January 5. The interior cameras were installed, although a worker stepped through our ceiling and we had to call the workers back in to cover cords. The exterior system has not been completed. The work is sloppy, not up to code, and half done. The owner has admitted that he hadn't installed a door alarm system before. This has become painfully obvious. It is now the end of April and we haven't seen a worker for 2 weeks. Wires are hanging loose, we have an outlet that is throwing sparks, and are unsure what to do next.Desired Settlement: We would like the items removed and our money refunded so we can hire a company that knows how to do the job neatly and in a timely matter.

Response:

First of all I feel in necessary to clarify and correct any of the information from [redacted] that was differentthan how I saw it.1. The hiring of Digital Security Systems-She is correct in stating she contracted us to install a 4 camerasystem and at that time she asked me if we could install a lock system also. I told her it was notsomething we had done regularly, but had done a Y2 dozen for others. So we did know what we weredoing, but not part our standard install, but would do it as a courtesy to the church. I also said I woulddo it in cost of the camera system for her to help the church (they were on a thin budget). If you checkour prices you will see that holds true to our standard pricing.2. The Process- I then told her it would take a couple of weeks to get started because we were movinginto our busy season, but would push to get it done. We started in about 10 days. We then put in thecamera system first and that's where the problems started. First, [redacted] said we would have supportfrom our maintenance person who was just there on Thursday. We were also told we could get keys towork at hours there wasn't anyone there, which works well for us, because the church had hours thatdidn't necessarily work with ours (this is not uncommon for us, we have work with all types ofgovernment agencies and schools to work after hours). As the job started we showed up on the firstThursday and the maintenance person seemed distressed we were there and would not work with us,we found this process of non-cooperation to prevail the rest of the job. We had to have someone babysit us from that point on. I have been in business for 35 years and this is my first complaint to the Revdex.com.Usually we get thanks for low prices and great work.3. On the job-As the work started, not knowing the environment, my engineer went through the ceilingin a attic that the maintenance man was supposed to guide us through a dark crawl space, but ended updoing on our own. The results could have been worse, but my guy was alright and we fixed the ceilingthat week. We also (after the initial install) left some cords hanging from the cameras (we do this tobeta test cameras) and then came back on that Saturday with [redacted] (one of the parishioners), andcompleted the install of the cameras and did the finishing work (which was approved).4. Limited hours-So with the camera system in and up and running more problems started. We weretold the limited hours and tried to work around them, but when you're doing gift in kind work you haveto fit it in, and a number of times we were told there would be someone there, there wasn't, thishappened at least 5 times and we got frustrated and stated we would do the best we could to wrapthings up working around their hours (it was never stated when we would finish the door system anddidn't realize how important it was seeing that we had such a problem getting in). They also never hadone before and the camera system was working 100% to provide security.5. The spark issue- We were called to be told there were sparks coming out of an outlet we put in to runthe 12 volt system. I then brought my electrician in at my cost te=:ehedt ~& 0' It and found they wereplugging in an electric floor heater in by pulling the plus with the heater on. This will cause sparks...With that said, we have continued to complete the job on the door security that is now 95% completeand am wondering if I should bill them for the extra time and product we put into the door system afterI have read the complaint to the Revdex.com. I have contacted a couple of people on the board and explainedto them the situation and the issues we had to deal with to get the job done, but at this point not filed aformal complaint from our point of view. [redacted] also stated, when asked, in a conversation we had thatshe did not trust us to have keys, which I have never had been questioned in my 35 years before thatday. At this point I am not sure if I want to continue to do the job and continue to be thrown under thebus for things we had no control over. I also have some other information I will not share at this time. >? ------~[redacted];~~Owner
