In the past 45 years we have installed lead on over 3000 chimneys and have had no more than 3 stains resulting from the coating put on the lead  at the factory.  In all 3 of these cases the stain washed off completely after a few rain storms.  I have tried to convince...

this customer to be patient as the flashing has been on the chimney only a month.  I have assured this customer that we will correct the situation if the stain has not completely disappeared by the middle of April, 2016.  He says he his selling the house and wants it corrected now.  I have offered to write a letter for the prospective buyer assuring them that we will replace any stained shingles at that time.  It will not be necessary to replace the flashing because the coating will have all washed off the lead by then.
