Tysons Corner Collision Center has had our [redacted] in repair process for ten weeksThey have provided no justification for extended timeline other than internal scheduling processThe repair was primarily cosmetic and not particularly challenging Tysons Corner Collision Center requested authorization for an amount that was twice the primary appraisal estimate, and it was approved by my insurerNow that the repair work is complete, they are attempting to gain authorization to collect additional fees and they will not release the vehicle until they are approved For most of the ten weeks, the vehicle was stored outside and was not properly sealed, therefore interior panels and the vehicle interior were exposed to the environment for an extended period of time during Winter conditions

*** ***,On behalf of my company I apologize for the obvious miscommunication related to your repairUsually my people are pretty good at communicating any inconsistencies in a repair but it appears we failed on your vehicle.Cris, one of my managers wrote the estimate on the
vehicle using our outside estimating system which did not have the price of the molding in the database and he didn’t catch that the price of the part did not transferThis is an easy mistake to make (see attached page)The estimate said to replace the molding so the staff moved forward with itYou should have received a call and the staff failed our protocol.Profits are slim on a job like this and the molding cost more than the entire repairI can offer you a 15% discount on the whole job $or you can return the molding for a complete refund Sorry for any inconvenience we may have causedKind regards,Tim PDirector of Operations

December 08, 2014The payment of $508.20 I sent to you was returned by the post office for a bad address. One of our people stuck it in the job folder. I will be glad to resend it if you could give us your current address. The address we have is the same one the Revdex.com record. This $508.20...

amount is not only for the days of process delay in the paint shop but I added a few days for weekends. According to Enterprise your per day expense was $46.20 and I gave you 11 days at that rate. Normally when a customer runs out of rental they will either pay the rental expense or make other arrangements. In your case Mr. W[redacted] did not keep you properly informed about the progress of your vehicle and there was a delay in the paint process which is why I approved the coverage of the 11 days of car rental.Your Revdex.com complaint included information about another complaint you have with [redacted] which is a different case and does not pertain to your transaction with us.
As collision repairers we are responsible for the quality of the repair and ensuring customers vehicles are repaired to manufacturer compliance. OEM certified shops are held to a higher level than regular shops and repairs take special equipment and proper training. The repairs cannot be rushed and there are a lot of variables that affect the flow of our production. We rotate vehicles in and out of the repair stations as efficiently as possible but there are always delays in the collision repair process. We struggle every day with insurance companies who want to cut corners by using cheap junkyard / aftermarket parts and inferior repair techniques which would compromise the value of your vehicle. We have to fight for every dollar just to fix your vehicle correctly and in compliance with the manufacturer.
Replacement rental vehicles have nothing to do with the repair process and are a component of insurance with each insurance company offering a different limit of coverage usually from $600.00 to unlimited days of coverage. The ratio of rental coverage to actual repair time is rarely one to one and on larger repairs customers will have to come out of pocket or drive a lesser rental. You chose a [redacted] rental car which compounds your situation as a lesser rental vehicle could have mitigated your expense in this situation.
Your vehicle repair time line is approximated below.• Your vehicle came in 7/18/14.• Insurance wrote the estimate of $5970.10 7/23/14• Vehicle was assigned to the technician 7/25/14• Vehicle came in for Disassembly and Discovery 7/31/14 Supplement was submitted to insurance company for additional parts and labor needed for repair.• Insurance wrote supplement which is missing some items 8/06/14 Insurance estimate now $7738.95• Parts arrive 8/12/14 Vehicle goes back on the rotation schedule• Vehicle got back into production 8/18/14• The vehicle went into the queue for the paint shop 8/27/14• Second supplement was completed 8/29/14 bringing the total repair value to $9683.36This is $3700.00 dollars more than the original insurance estimate. With additional parts and labor.• There was a delay in the paint shop and it did not get finished in paint until 9/4/14• The vehicle went back for reassembly• The finish had to be buffed and vehicle quality controlled which finished on 9/10/14• Vehicle was picked up on 9/11/14Kind Regards,

Review: the body shop manager quoted a repair price of $272.00. the actual cost was $572.00. I was not told in advance of the work performed that the actual cost was over 100% higher than the estimate and only found out after all the work had been completedDesired Settlement: refund for the excess charge above the estimate
