Dear [redacted], Please accept my apology for the problems you experienced with your reservation. Although U-Haul makes every effort to ensure your equipment is available for you when you arrive, there are times when you may be referred to another location. This is when we offer the $50.00 reservation guarantee. I do see that the GM has submitted a refund check in the amount of $50.00, that was cut on July 7th and is being delivered via first class mail. Unfortunately, we will not be able to refund for your moving help, but I can offer an additional $50.00 VIP certificate to use towards a future rental or purchase with U-Haul. I hope you find this as a satisfactory resolution and we look forward to the opportunity to help you with any future moving or storage needs. Regional Office, followed up on the information Ms. [redacted] provided. She informed our office that the mount, when installed, was slid into the receiver hitch, which does sit two inches below. If the mount is flipped 180 degrees, the mount then sits four inches higher. Ms. [redacted] was advised of this upon her initial objection. There is no problem with the hitch installation or the mount that slides into the receiver hitch.

[redacted] U-Haul Ref#: [redacted]   Thank you for your concern for our customer Ms. [redacted].   Jerry L[redacted], our President for our Gulf Coast Texas Regional Office, followed up on the information Ms. [redacted] provided.  He informed our office equipment to fill Ms. [redacted]’s reservation was located at two different locations, however, she opted to cancel the reservation as she did not wish to travel to secure the equipment needed for her move.   Unfortunately, we were not able to schedule pick up at her preferred pick up location because equipment was not available there.  Had we scheduled the equipment at a specific location and then did not have it available when she showed to pick up, Ms. [redacted] would have been entitled to the $50 Reservation Guarantee Fee.  However, this was not the case and Mr. L[redacted] relayed she is not due a refund.   Our customers are very important to us and we regret to hear of situations that cause problems for them. Area Field Manager contacted Mr. [redacted] and left a message requesting a call back.  He plans to explain our procedure of equipment substitution and how our $50 Reservation Guarantee Fee program works.  Mr. Barbanti relayed the $50 has been issued back to Mr. [redacted]’s credit card but no other reimbursement is warranted.  We did provide equipment for his move and Mr. [redacted] completed his move.  The area Mr. [redacted] wished to rent from did have a shortage of the size truck he requested and we did work with him on trying to fill his reservation.  We located a 20-foot truck with a 12-foot trailer and Mr. [redacted] accepted.  The refund should post on his next Visa credit card statement. Our customers are very important to us and we regret to hear of situations that cause problems for them. I reviewed your account and I did notice that you placed an order for an 8x6x6 using on July 28, 2014. We regret and understand that you were upset with the requested sized not being available. It's unfortunate that this occurred, however we did accommodate you with a unit(8x8x6), which is 2 feet greater in width and greater in cost. I understand that you are seeking resolution to accommodate what you originally agreed upon. At this time there are no units available at [redacted] in the amount of $84.95 for an 8x6x6. Once a unit becomes available, I can arrange a date movers of your choice from [redacted] to move your items out of the current unit into an 8x6x6 storage space. The amount of the unit that you are currently occupying can not and will not be reduce to the unit size that you originally requested. If you wish to continue occupying the current space the rate will be $144.95 until further notice. Due to the miscommunication, we can grant an additional month free for unit 147. concern for our customer Mr. [redacted].   Mike S[redacted], our President for our North Central New York Regional Office, followed up on the information Mr. [redacted] provided.  He informed our office he honestly believes they did everything they could for Mr. [redacted] from start to finish being Mr. [redacted] made a reservation late on Friday, October 21st.  Mr. [redacted] was given options that would have enabled him to make his move, however, he opted to decline them.  Mr. S[redacted] added we are still obligated to refund his prepaid amount and also issue the $50 Reservation Guarantee Fee.  Refunds for $288.19 and $50 have been issued back to his Visa account and should post on his next credit card statement.  Mr. S[redacted] also mentioned they would be happy to help Mr. [redacted] with another reservation that will work for him and his family.   Our customers are very important to us and we regret to hear of situations that cause problems for them. We also contacted [redacted], our President for our Southern New Jersey Regional Office, regarding Ms. [redacted]’s concerns. He informed our office he reviewed the repair history of the truck Ms. [redacted] rented and believes Ms. [redacted] may have had an issue getting the blinkers to work, however, they were functioning at check-in prior to her rental. Upon her return in Buford, GA no repairs were needed and the truck continued to be rented nearly every day since without incident. Our GM that hooked up the auto-transport has been with U-Haul for over 20 years and Mr. [redacted] is confident our GM would not have hooked up the auto-transport and dispatched it without checking the lights.
