My U-Haul nightmare started when my original 24 hour reservation was arbitrarily cancelled. When I called customer service, I was informed that the previous customer still had the truck.
I had to make a totally new reservation at a different location, which ended up being *** W WALNUT, GARLAND TX. This really caused me some inconvenience, but I went ahead and got the truck and started moving my belongings. Everything was going fine until around 5pm the next day when the back door to the truck broke. The door would not room down so I could not secure my belongings. I tried to contact roadside assistance through the app,, but for some reason it wouldn't connect. I called roadside assistance and waited over an hour for them to get back to me, only to have them tell me that since my reservation time was almost over, I should just return the truck because it could take hours to send out a new truck. I had to then UNLOAD everything I had loaded into the truck since I couldn't close the back door and secure my belongings. Then I had to fill up the tank and return the U-Haul. Because the back door was open, I was pulled over by the police, who felt that the back door being open and my slow driving was "suspicious". I was held up for quite some time while the officer looked inside the truck and asked me questions. He finally left me alone once he saw that the back door really was broken, and he confirmed that I was an upstanding citizen just trying to move my belongings.

The police stop made me late for returning the truck. The truck was due back at 8:45pm and I called at 8:30 to let them know that I was stopped because of the door. The customer service representative said it was okay, that was understandable, and to drive safe.

I ended up having to pay movers to move the rest of my stuff since the U-HAUL broke on me and I couldn't haul that last load. Then I discovered that U-Haul had the audacity to bill me for an extra day for being late after THEIR equipment failed me! Unbelievable!

Desired Outcome

Billing Adjustment I will pay for one day of rental fees and insurance, as well as my mileage. I didn't even get full use of the truck for one day, so I surely shouldn't be charged for TWO. My invoice needs to be adjusted to reflect the accurate and fair charges.
