In reference to the Complaint and Desired Outcome/Settlement:

I took the time to speak with the representative in question and reviewed the history of the loan. The representative in question has been with the Credit Union for many years and consistently provides top notch member service. She is also very accurate and efficient. The payment history of the loan reflects, at the time of the complaint, 3 of the first 4 payments were past due when payment was made. The representative would have taken this information into account, along with speaking with our Collections department, before rendering a decision not to refund the late fee. It is my understanding the member had already been in contact with our Collections department before being transferred to the Member Service department. In addition, the representative tried to offer assistance in many ways by: listening to her explanation of the situation, asking when the member plans to make the payment and explaining that paying before 30 days delinquent would avoid any negative impact with the Credit Bureau, options were given to make the payment (check by phone with our Collections department or visiting a shared branch near the member’s location). Lastly when the member requested to speak with a manger, the representative specifically inquired if she was displeased with the service provided and the member stated that her concern was fee related. I have determined that the issue has more to do with the late fee than the service that was provided. In any event, we will use this feedback to further improve on the delivery of excellent member service as the Credit Union prides itself on providing exceptional service to the membership.

We appreciate [redacted] bringing her concern to our attention.

August 13, 2014Dear [redacted]:The fact that the member was a victim of an “Online Work from Home Scam” does not relieve her from reimbursing the financial institution for any lost funds.Sincerely,

Review: After being a faithful customer with the USPS FCU for 7 years, my account was suspended and all funds that were in my account were garnished, I was sent to 2 collection agencies, check systems, denied credit, reported to all three major reporting agencies, have incurred high interest rates to date, and have a low credit score to date, all because of my being a victim of an online work from home scam. Although I provided USPS FCU with all the necessary information, including but not limited to: police reports, emails, and [redacted] information, I was still not afforded the opportunity to maintain my account, have my funds return to me, and was told by Mr. Don J[redacted] ( CFO of USPS FCU) that "Your account will stay suspended, continue to be reported to all major credit reporting agencies, and check systems until you pay the balance due. USPS FCU also refused to update and correct all information on my credit reports even after my account was satisfied and in good standing.Desired Settlement: Refund all monies that were garnished from my account, all collection activities to cease and desist, any negative information from this company be deleted from all three major credi reporting agencies, and get better educated about federal laws concerning online scams and identity theft. I want USPS FCU to give me the lowest interest rates for all programs(mortgage, auto loans, high yield savings) for the life of my membership and provide me with the charge off, and tax information for A#[redacted]
