U S Truck Driving School Inc Reviews (1)

Do not attend this School. I did, when I went to the recruiting office at Midway, Co I told them I had no previous experience driving a Tractor-trailer or Straight Truck and was concerned about whether or not they could teach me how well enough to get my Class A CDL. They assured me that they were the best School in the Industry and that most of their Students complete the course and pass the CDL Test.
Once they had my money I immediately began to hear a different story, several Instructors told our class "We don't care if you get your CDL, we already have our CDL."
Their Instructors are of the lowest quality imaginable, only [redacted] and * are worth a damn, the rest should be deported, barred from entry to the United States, and all their possessions seized and burned. They're that bad.
They will literally harass and harangue Students while they are in the act of learning how to drive a Semi Truck with a 42 foot trailer in traffic.
They will give you incomplete and inadequate instruction and tell you "You're out of luck, I don't care if you get your CDL."
A person could have been driving for 20 or more years but if they cannot teach someone else how to drive they should not be an Instructor.
Teaching people who already know how to drive a Tractor-trailer or Straight truck how to drive does not mean one is a good teacher, being able to teach someone who has no experience or background how to drive these commercial vehicles is what makes one a good teacher.
From the time I started the class until the day I tested for my CDL 14 Students had tested for their CDL while I was there, of those 14 only 5 passed their CDL Test, that's a success rate of just a little better than 10%! They have a success rate of 10% and they claim to be the best school in the Industry!
With only 10% of their Students passing the CDL Test one would think they would conduct a review of their Instructors and the Program. No such luck. They do however talk badly about the students behind their back. The unspoken policy at US Truck Driving School seems to be "There's no such thing as a bad Instructor, only bad Students."
Bottom line is, if you cannot teach people with no experience or background how to drive well enough to pass the CDL Test then you shouldn't be a teacher. Go get another job doing something you can actually do well.
When I was speaking to [redacted], the Manager of the Instructors about my concerns he told me "The course used to be 8 weeks long but they shortened it to 3 weeks, I don't know why they did that, I don't agree with it but it isn't up to me."
The equipment is in terrible shape, we were learning how to do a pre-trip inspection and none of the equipment met the criteria they were teaching us was safe for road travel.
Another student who started 2 weeks after I did was a former State Patrol Officer and he told me that "The Student Driver can get a ticket for driving unsafe equipment if they get pulled over and a DOT inspection is conducted on these vehicles." I told him "They told us that the Company would get the ticket, not the Student Driver." He responded "They're wrong."
This same Student used to conduct DOT inspections and told me that none of the Trucks or Trailers used for road driving at US Truck Driving School would pass a DOT Inspection and that they would all be taken out of commission due to being unsafe for driving.
The Staff did tell my class that in the future US Truck Driving School will be leasing brand new equipment and so lucky Students in that future time will be able to learn on serviceable and safe equipment, they will still be attending the School that thought it was perfectly fine to charge all those previous classes the same amount to learn how to drive commercial vehicles in unsafe and unserviceable equipment.
Keep in mind that this is a 6,000.00 course!
The Staff told us that if you don't pass your CDL Test the first time you can come back and get 2 days of instruction and retest, and if you don't pass the CDL Test the second time you can come back and receive further instruction and retest a final time. in fact [redacted], a student in a class that started in early December 2013 did have to take his CDL Test 3 times and did receive additional instruction each time before he retested. [redacted] took his third test 2 days before I took my CDL Test. After I failed my CDL Test I was informed that the School has decided that they will now allow you to come back for additional instruction before retesting only one time and after that will only administer the third test with no additional instruction. This means that they conveniently changed their policy the day my class took its CDL Class, just so they could screw over my class and every class after us.
Keep in mind that this is a 6,000.00 course!
In Previous classes that tested while I was attending US Truck Driving School several Students were taking the course as a condition of their Unemployment by he State of Colorado. None of them passed the CDL Test. Several Students were using the GI Bill through the Army to pay for the Course, many of them did not pass the CDL Test. What this means is that not only is the School robbing its Students by charging them thousands of dollars for a program they have only a 10% success rate in, they are also robbing all of the tax payers in America by failing to successfully teach Students who are using Tax Funded programs to pay for their schooling.
There were only three students in my class, it was a small class. the course is 3 weeks long 12 days of which is behind the wheel. But you are sharing that wheel with two other drivers…. that means that you end up with about 4 days of driving experience.
If you or someone you care about is thinking of attending US Truck Driving School go somewhere else, you have other options that will cost you thousands of dollars less and be a much better course.
