Review: U Store It is demanding a full months payment for storage rental even if consumer is vacating before the month is over. They refuse to pro rate or issue a refund. Basically, if you vacate before the month is over, you're just giving this business money for nothing. To me, that is theftDesired Settlement: this business needs to quit stealing from consumers. If a consumer gives notice they will vacate before the month is over, then they need to pro rate that month. If a consumer leaves before the month is over and pays in full for the month, then they need to issue a refund. Stealing from consuemrs is a crime.

As General Manager of U-Stor-It, I would like to address the above-referenced complaint. After speaking with the U-Stor-It, North Facility Manager, [redacted], and reading the notes in the tenant’s account, it appears as though Miss Anderson stopped into our office on Monday, August 26th, and gave "‘notice” that she planned to move her contents out of the storage space by 9/7/13. Her storage rent came due on 8/22, and as stated in our Lease “rental payment is payable in advance”, and “tenant shall give management seven (7) days notice to vacate PRIOR to the rent due date. Once the due date has arrived another month's rent is due in full. There is NO REFUND for remaining days left in the current paid month”. However, we do offer a Pro-Rate-Out option, which is explained in our Rules & Regulations,

#14 - If you need only a few more days into your next Rental Period, call the office PRIOR to the Due Date. We can charge a Daily Rate as long as the Pro-Rated Payment is received PRIOR to the Due Date. At the time of [redacted]’s Rental, she received and signed both of these documents.

Even though, [redacted] did not comply with the required notification, she was still offered a Pro-Rate-Out Payment. Her payment of $58.93 covered the Daily Rate for 8/22 through 9/7, which are the days she intends to use. We appreciate our customers, and understand that sometimes life changes happen, and do not always adhere to a detailed document. We respect the dignity of our tenants, and do not “steal” from them. In fact, because we are individually owned, and not part of a franchise, we are able to work out Payment Plans or waive certain Fees, in order to help our customers during a financial crisis.

Review: I am renting a storage unit at 11303 W. Loop 1604 North from the CubeSmart (aka U Store It). I reported a large Bat in the rafters of my unit on Sunday 25 May 2014. The representative on duty stated that she would call the city to have them come remove the wild animal. It is now 28 May 2014 and the bat has not been removed. I informed the manager of the storage unit that this is a health and safety violation as this animal can attack anyone...no notice has been posted on the bldg or in the bldg for other renters.Desired Settlement: Remove the bat from my unit and continue to monitor for additional activity of bats. It is unclear how the bat got into the bldg, nor how it got to the 3rd floor. The owners or manager need to evaluate the structure and find the entry point where this animal got in. In addition, due to the continuous time lost and inability to enter storage unit, grant one month free rent and continuous free rent if the animal is not removed.
