Review: On 3-20-2015 went to U31 cocktail lounge for drinks and to watch SDSU basketball game. It was myself and my finance and my cousin and her husband. We were treated very unfairly after being in this establishment spending money. During our visit we were playing pool on the pool table tjis lady rudely walk into our pool game and slammed money on the table as we were in the middle of our game. My fiance was upset because he was in the middle of shooting pool. He basically let the lady know to get out his personal space he was there with me and he used cussing words. The lady then went to security at the establishment the head of security very rude and one sided individual name [redacted]. He asked my finance and our party leave and when doing so he put his hands on my finance. So my fiance got more upset do to the fact this man touch him and he at the time had no idea who he was. We left how ever we had just purchased drinks I want to be refunded cause we did nothing wrong. The lady rudely slammed money in the middle of our game on the table she was flirting with my fiance being disrespectful and we got put out for putting the lady in her place. I went to the establishment following monday requesting my money and head of security [redacted] refused.I then asked for owner he said a man by the name Steve Building or Steve Billing would call me. Instead I got a call from [redacted] on 3-24-2015 saying Deshaun we are not reimbursing you your money. I asked for owner again he then denied me saying owner cant speak to me. I need help reaching owner and being refunded please.Desired Settlement: $19.44 I want back for last round

Response:

Hello [redacted],After receiving a complaint from a female patron that [redacted]'s fiance was being aggressive, I approached the pool table that they were using to get their side of the story. As I walked up I noticed that the fiance was still irate so I politely introduced myself but was cut off with "what do you want?". I explained that a complaint was made and that I wanted to get his side, but instead of taking the opportunity to do so, he shooed me away saying that I didn't need to talk to him, that he wasn't the problem and she (the other patron) was. I took a second shot at getting his side of the story and gently placed my left hand (open palm)on the outside of his right arm while assuring him that no accusation was being made and that I was only interested in giving him an opportunity to tell his side. At this point the fiance, standing at 6 foot 7 inches 260lbs (we scan and record the ID's of every patron that enters the bar past 6pm, so I pulled it up afterwards to ban him from our venue), began to yell at me (5'11 160lbs) using expletives while advancing towards me and being increasingly aggressive. I asked him why he felt the need to respond in such a way as my stature next to his was clearly not a threat to him. By now two of my security guards had walked up sensing a possible threat from their party given the fiance's use of vulgarity, increasingly loud voice, and posturing body language. The fiance's friend (third in their party) then suggested they leave, saying that we didn't want them there anyway, all the while the fiance kept yelling and using foul language. I agreed with the fiance's friend and requested that they leave the premises, and at no point was reimbursement requested from anyone in their party while being escorted out of the bar.A few days later [redacted] came in requesting a reimbursement for the round of drinks that she says they left behind. She was very polite and cool headed, saying that she understood why they were asked to leave given her fiance's behavior, but stood firm on her position that the girl was the instigator and that they had not done anything wrong. My position was that if anyone owed her for the drinks it was her fiance in that it was his aggressive response to a mere request for his input on a complaint that resulted in their ejection. I explained that if she applied the same empathy throughout the entire scenario instead of stopping short when it came to who to blame for the lost investment, that she would understand my position. [redacted] became disgruntled and insisted that she talk to the manager, to which I responded that I was the manager. She then made several more attempts at pleading her case and I told her that I was going to give her the benefit of having the owner make the call, as I felt it was only fair to allow her a non-subjective decision on the matter. I do not believe she understood what I was trying to convey in that it was to her benefit to have the owner make the call, as she kept expressing her dissatisfaction with how I was handling her grievance.I spoke with the owner the next day and he felt I made the right decision. I called [redacted] to inform her that she was not going to receive a reimbursement to which she made a threat of recourse by way of the Revdex.com if I didn't overturn and comply with her request. Please don't hesitate to contact me for any further information.Regards,[redacted]General ManagerU-31 Cocktail Lounge
