UBreakiFix Kennesaw Reviews (%countItem)

The website advertises they fix Samsung S8+ broken phone glass for $229. Admittedly it says estimated $229. However, without so much as looking at my phone to inspect the damage they informed me when I walked in that it would be $249 to fix. I asked how did you get that number? And the guy behind the counter pulls out a thin cardboard sheet and points to the line that says $249. So apparently there is nothing to their so called estimate, it is a fixed price of $249. That's our price and that is what is on the price list I was told. I said but that is not what you have on your website. They replied they couldn't help that, their price was $249. I ask about seeing a manager and I was informed that he only comes by like once or twice a month. Clearly the game is to lure you in with the low ball price on the website and then con you into paying more than the price that was advertised.

Desired Outcome

Repair I would like it repaired for the price they have advertised they would do it for.

On July 8th, I paid a $106 deposit toward the repair of my ***. The screen had a crack and the display would not work. The guaranteed price was $199 plus tax, I was told it would take about a week. It is noteworthy that UBreakIfix examined the phone before quoting the price, and they observed no other damage.

The promise of a week-turnaround did not happen. The store rep, '***,? blamed the delay on the USPS in getting the part. After several follow-up calls, *** promised the phone would be ready by 6PM on Wednesday July 19. I visited the store at 6PM on July 19 and the phone was in pieces. *** also now claimed that the power button was broken and held it in his had (still partly dissembled) and showed me the phone would power on and the screen was repaired.

On July 24, *** called and said he could fix the phone only if I paid another $100 because the phone was "old" and the motherboard was 'deteriorating.? (UBreakIfix advertises repairs to this particular phone on their website, so they must be aware of its age.) I can only speculate they intentionally damaged the motherboard to gouge me for additional repair bills.

Desired Outcome

Finish the job I would like this location of UBreakIfix to stop advertising any sort of repairs for the ***, and to stop baiting the customers with one price and then switching it to another price after some trumped-up additional repair work is demanded for additional charges.

UBreakiFix Kennesaw Response

This customer brought us his *** in for a screen replacement, the LCD was broken so the device would not power on or display. This is what we call dead on arrival and we cannot test any functionality at this point. We advised the customer he needed atvleast a new lcd, unfortunately this was not the only issue with this device. After installing the new lcd we noticed the power button was not functioning. We concluded that the power button was also damaged which is attached to the motherboard on this phone. We understood this customer's frustration and offered to fix the power button for half the typical cost and also offered $50 off of the screen replacement which was promptly declined. When we were able to get the device to power on it was on the *** setup menu. The customers data was not on the device anymore, typically when this happens it is because the lcd stops displaying but the digitizer is still working causing incorrect passcodes to be unknowingly entered. Most phones have an option to wipe data if the incorrect code is inputted to many times. The customer was unhappy and wanted the repair free. Since the customer declined the discounts offered on both repairs to his Note 3 we gave him a full refund for his deposit and returned his device. After declining the discounts he also told us he was going to start a smear campaign if we didn't fix his phone free.

Customer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The business's response is factually inaccurate.

According to ***, the power button worked fine, but had been reinstalled incorrectly when the LCD was replaced. In addition, the motherboard had a broken circuit. According to the repair technician, the circut was broken when an internal cover plate was forced into place in a rough-handled manner. In short, a professional cell repair shop confirmed that YouBreakIfix mishandled my repair.

Their response is correct that I declined to pay additional money for damage they caused, regardless of how much they discounted the "bogus" add-on charges.

As to the data loss, YouBreakIfix did a factory reset, either intentionally or due to general incompetence. Fortunately, *** was able to recover some of the data by doing something to the partition on the phone, a step YouBreakIfix apparently had no idea could be done.

The company's reply is correct that they refunded the money they charged after destroyed my data and caused extensive additional damage. I never asked or demanded a free repair. I asked them to repair the damage they caused, and was more than willing to pay the $205 for the screen replacement. I was not, however, willing to pay additional funds for damage they caused, regardless of the "discount."

In addition, the company exaggerated my "campaign" to smear them. I did, if fact, tell them in no uncertain terms I would post online to warn other potential customers that I had been victimized and felt it was my obligation to let others know how I had been treated. In my view, telling the truth is not a smear campaign.

In summary, I am convinced the company intentionally damaged my phone in an attempt to "punish" me for complaining to their corporate office due their mishandling of the data.
