I was appalled to read the and defamatory claims submitted by a former patient to the Revdex.comThis then shall constitute my responseThe true facts are these: 1) The patient first came to our office on August 10, as a new patientWe performed an initial examination, took and read x-rays and diagnosed periodontal diseaseWe advised him that he was in need of periodontal scaling and root planning treatment 2) The patient next presented himself to our office for two (2) separate visits on August 31, and September 2, In each of these visits, he received periodontal treatment (scaling and root planing) , as previously identified and discussed with him 3) We next saw him for a follappointment on October 1, for periodontal maintenance, at which time we re-evaluated his gums and bone to determine the success of our treatment 4) The dates, fees charged and paid, as well as care provided, are meticulously documented in our computer system, shown as follows in this and successive paragraphs Date Description of Service Charge 8/10/ Initial exam and x-rays $ 8/31/ Periodontal Scaling LR Periodontal Scaling UR 9/2/ Periodontal Scaling LL Periodontal Scaling UL 10/1/ Periodontal Maintenance TOTAL FEES- $ 5) The gum therapy/periodontal treatment phase of the treatment plan, which had been previously established with and agreed to by the patient, was now completedOf the total charges of $1289.00, the patient paid $577.80, his dental insurance paid $571.20, and we provided a courtesy discount to the patient of $ 6) We next saw the patient on October 14, to place three implants, again part of the treatment plan previously agreed to by the patientAfter two (2) were completed, the patient opted to have the third implant placed at a later visit due to complaints of a sore neck and backAs agreed, the patient was charged $1,an implant, NOT $2,as he falsely claimed in his complaintThe patient paid $2,on account on October 7) The patient then returned to the office on October 21, 2015, at which time the third implant was placed, again at the agreed upon cost to him of $1,He paid an additional $1,on account on October 21, He paid the remaining balance of $1,on February 11, 8) In summary, the complete charges to the patient, after a courtesy discount, for all treatment rendered, inclusive of the appointments with the hygienist for periodontal treatment AND the placement of three (3) implants, was $6,The patient paid a total of $5,and his dental insurance paid $of the total charged 9) After the three implants were placed, the patient was seen in our office for a foll appointment and suture removal on October He never expressed any concerns to me about billing and expressed no dissatisfaction with ANY phase of the treatmentWe called him on February and February 9, and left messages for him, inquiring about his comfort and seeking payment of the balance owed, which, as set forth above, was paid on February 10) Contrary to the patient’s misrepresentations, our office never received any correspondence or e-mails from himIf in fact he had any concerns regarding fees, why weren’t they discussed with me in person or the subject of a telephone call? Furthermore, since he knew what the charges per implant were from our invoice of October 14th, when two implants were placed at $1, per implant, and if he felt that he was somehow overcharged, why did he return on October 21st to have the third implant done at the same cost, particularly since there was no financial or clinical commitment to have me do the third implant? The patient has intentionally omitted reference to the four (4) appointments which he had with our hygienist and the periodontal treatment rendered to him, all of which were included in the total fees charged and which he paid! The patient has omitted all of the fees ($1289) and appointments before the implants were placedALL OF THE FEES were, in fact, totally consistent with my representations to him when we established a treatment plan I have been practicing dentistry for twenty (20) years and enjoy a wonderful rapport with my patientsFurther, I have been positively recognized for the quality of my practice by both my patients and my peersThis is the first time that anyone has made charges such as these and I am deeply offended by his intentional deception and audacity The patient’s unfounded and accusations of unethical conduct on my part constitute defamation and I shall explore alternatives as to a separate, more formal response to his chargesI cannot and will not tolerate this type of dishonesty which bears negatively upon my professional reputation

I was appalled to read the false and defamatory claims
submitted by a former patient to the Revdex.com. This then shall
constitute my response. The true facts are these:
 1)   The patient first came to our office on
August 10, 2015 as a new patient. We performed an...

initial examination, took and
read x-rays and diagnosed periodontal disease. We advised him that he was in
need of periodontal scaling and root planning treatment.
2)   The patient next
presented himself to our office for two (2) separate visits on August 31, 2015
and September 2, 2015. In each of these visits, he received periodontal
treatment (scaling and root planing) , as previously identified and discussed with him.
3)   We next saw him
for a follow-up appointment on October 1, 2015 for periodontal maintenance, at
which time we re-evaluated his gums and bone to determine the success of our
treatment.
4)   The dates, fees
charged and paid, as well as care provided, are meticulously documented in our
computer system, shown as follows in this and successive paragraphs.
Date
Description of Service                               Charge
8/10/15
Initial exam and x-rays                             $78.00
8/31/15
Periodontal Scaling LR                              223.00

  Periodontal Scaling UR                             285.00
9/2/15
Periodontal Scaling LL                               223.00

  Periodontal Scaling UL                              223.00
10/1/15                Periodontal Maintenance                         117.00
 TOTAL FEES- $1289
 5)   The gum therapy/periodontal treatment phase
of the treatment plan, which had been previously established with and agreed to
by the patient, was now completed. Of the total charges of $1289.00, the
patient paid $577.80, his dental insurance paid $571.20, and we provided a
courtesy discount to the patient of $140.00.
6)   We next saw the
patient on October 14, 2015 to place three implants, again part of the
treatment plan previously agreed to by the patient. After two (2) were
completed, the patient opted to have the third implant placed at a later visit
due to complaints of a sore neck and back. As
agreed, the patient was charged $1,700.00 an implant, NOT $2,250.00 as he
falsely claimed in his complaint. The patient paid $2,400.00 on account
on October 14.
7)   The patient then returned to the office on
October 21, 2015, at which time the third implant was placed, again at the agreed upon cost to him of
$1,700.00. He paid an additional $1,000.00 on account on October 21,
2015. He paid the remaining balance of $1,583.00 on February 11, 2016.
8)   In summary, the complete charges to the
patient, after a courtesy discount, for all treatment rendered, inclusive of the
4 appointments with the hygienist for periodontal treatment AND the placement of
three (3) implants, was $6,249.00. The patient paid a total of $5,560.80 and
his dental insurance paid $688.20 of the total charged.
9)   After the three
implants were placed, the patient was seen in our office for a follow-up
appointment and suture removal on October 28. He never expressed any concerns to me about billing and expressed no dissatisfaction with ANY
phase of the treatment. We called him on February 1 and February 9, 2016 and
left messages for him, inquiring about his comfort and seeking payment of the
balance owed, which, as set forth above, was paid on February 11.
10)   Contrary to the
patient’s misrepresentations, our office never received any correspondence or
e-mails from him. If in fact he had any concerns regarding fees, why weren’t
they discussed with me in person or the subject of a telephone call?
Furthermore, since he knew what the charges per implant were
from our invoice of October 14th, when two implants were placed at $1,700.00
per implant, and if he felt that he was somehow overcharged, why did he return
on October 21st to have the third implant done at the same cost, particularly
since there was no financial or clinical commitment to have me do the third
implant?
 The patient has
intentionally omitted reference to the four (4) appointments which he had with
our hygienist and the periodontal treatment rendered to him, all of which were
included in the total fees charged… and which he paid! The patient has
omitted all of the fees ($1289) and appointments before the implants were
placed. ALL OF THE FEES were, in fact, totally consistent with my
representations to him when we established a treatment plan.
 I have been
practicing dentistry for twenty (20) years and enjoy a wonderful rapport with
my patients. Further, I have been positively recognized for the quality of my
practice by both my patients and my peers. This is the first time that anyone
has made charges such as these and I am deeply offended by his intentional
deception and audacity.
 The patient’s
unfounded and false accusations of unethical conduct on my part constitute
defamation and I shall explore alternatives as to a separate, more formal
response to his charges. I cannot and will not tolerate this type of dishonesty
which bears negatively upon my professional reputation.
