Patient told us she had made a payment to her account in June but after looking at our systems we were not able to verify that the payment had been received. We asked the patient for verification that payment had been made like a bank statement or receipt. That was not received from the patient. At...

After receiving the patient's response we did further research and found that the check we received was the check the patient submitted on 6/23/2017 through her banks online bill pay. The bill pay process with the bank can sometimes take up to 5 days before that check is submitted for delivery. The check was sent to the wrong processing address and had to be returned to us which further elongated the posting process. In the meantime the patient continued to receive statements as we believed the bill was still outstanding. We apologize for the confusion and we are putting procedures in place so when a payment is sent to the incorrect processing center it is forwarded to us in a more timely manner.
