Ulmer's Plumbing Reviews (1)

Review: Charged for work not done correctly two times, same issue.

Called out to fix an underground leak coming from a failed joint at water well and house line. Responded, fixed, lasted approx 6 months and failed. Charged $400.00 Called back to fix problem, agreed upon a cost (said original fix failure was not their fault.). Called out and fixed problem again, failed again in approx 1 month. Charged 2 times what agreed upon cost was. I paid agreed upon cost ($70.00). I am disappointed in work and work practices including faulty work and additional charge.Desired Settlement: I would like to be compensated for the $$ I spent on 2 fixes that did not work and required to me find and call another plumber to fix correctly.

Business' Initial Response

On September 10, 2012 note: ( approx. over I I Months Ago). I arrived at the residence of [redacted] to give an estimate. While I was explaining to her the cost I had told her I charge by the hour @$75.00 an hour and normally I bring a helper. She asked for a cost and I told her approx. $400.00(during our conversation she had told me a friend of mine recommended me.

We arrived the following day to do the repair in the morning approx. 8:OOam. We had to excavate down and expose a bad fitting that was very sloppy and it had been leaking for a long time, because we had to suck out gallons of water to be able to do the repair changing out fittings, pipe, and used red hot glue & primer etc.. and then left and returned at 5:30-6:OOpm to turn water back on and check for leaks and all tested good. I backfilled, and left. This job consisted of 6hrs + materials and since she had said a friend recommended her, I discounted the job price -$100.00. All work is done to upc plumbing codes local & state.

Then (approx. 10 months later), on July 3rd 2013 1 received a phone call from [redacted] saying that I didn't do the work properly and calling in to question my plumbing abilities with 35yrs experience.

When she called at first I didn't remember who she was because of how long it had been and the amount

of customers I do, I couldn't recollect. I just happened to be around the comer as I remembered and I was at her home in less than 10 minutes (she stated that was quick). When I looked at the job it looked liked the joint had pushed out but it was already excavated (by others) and (I wasn't the one who excavated/exposed this). The water was turned off and the pipes exposed.

Being at this time it was Wednesday afternoon the next day was 4th of July I told her I would be back on Friday and the cost was discussed and agreed @75.00 hrly rate labor & materials. I told her the water had to be shut off for 24hrs because I didn't want to chance a leak again.

Arrived at the job site and the ditch was completely filled up with water and it took over I I/2hrs to

pump out the water and suck out the pipe to the house. I cut out a section of pipe and did the repair and

left the water off Returned the following morning and attempted to go in the back yard and there were

dogs in the back yard and one was a pit bull. I knocked on the front door repeatedly and no one came to

the door. I called [redacted] and told her of the situation and she said she would handle it from there.

I told her thank you and I wasn't sure I had the billing address. On Monday she called and left a message

of her billing address.

I told her it was $150.00 for the total job because of the extra time involved and I mailed her a bill and

she sent me a check for $70.00 with a note stating that is what she thought was fair I didn't want to continue to dispute the bill. I just left it at that.

I thought this customer experience was over until I recieved a letter from Revdex.com. I never recieved a phone

call back from customer [redacted] to complain disastified that the job wasn't fixed.

I have enclosed the following invoices and letter of explanation. It is unfortunate that we have this complaint but feel at this time there is no fair validity to this claim. All work is done to upc plumbing codes local & state.

Thank you
