ULTA Salon, Cosmetics & Fragrance, Inc. Reviews (1)

Review: I went to ULTA to see if it was possible to make multiple transactions using 40- $3.50 off $10 coupons. (I wanted to buy 40 nailpolishes for an event). The manager told me that I could.I went back two weeks later to make the purchases, spoke to multiple people telling them my story about making 40 different transactions (including 2 managers) who never said that I would not be able to make the separate transactions with the coupons. I went to the register, where I was told I was not allowed to make 40 transactions using the coupons. The manager I spoke to 2 weeks prior changed her story saying that I would need to go home and print out 40 coupons and come back. The next manager told me the policy had changed and that the coupon limitation was one coupon per person per day. (and that the promotion ended tomorrow). I called customer service and they said the store was wrong, and that I was allowed to make different transactions (just as I would be able to do it online). Customer service then called the store to verify (before I went all the way back to the store again), and came back to me and said that they had made a mistake and it was actually one coupon per customer per day. I told her this was not on the coupon anywhere, so how was the consumer suppose to know?I asked for the next chain of command to call me since there was nothing else this person could do. she also said that the policy was online. I went online and could not find the policy anywhere. I feel that I went above and beyond to make sure I would be able to do multiple transactions for the nailpolishes and was never told that it was not allowed until I got up to the register, even though I spoke to 2 managers about it previously. I feel this is extremely poor customer service, and the customer should not have to work this hard just to be sure they are within the constraints of the coupon policy. It should be clearly written in a place that is easy to see or find online.Desired Settlement:

The resolution that I am seeking in this situation, is that I would like an explanation as to why I was told on a previous occasion (as well as multiple times within and after the purchasing process) that I would be able to use the $3.50 of $10 coupon for multiple transactions.

Also, on arrival to the store, on the intended day of purchase, I told 2 separate ULTA employees my plan to use the coupons, in which neither employee (one being the store manager) told me that I would not be able to make multiple transcations, and instead helped me to gather my items for the large purchase. Upon checking out, the cashier informed me that I was not allowed to make multiple transactions with the coupons and called other the manager who I had spoken to a week earlier (who told me it was ok to make multiple transactions), and she said that as long as I had 1 coupon for each transaction, that they would be able to do it. So I was about to go home, and print 40 coupons and come back to make the purchases, when she called the store manager over (who had helped me to gather my products earlier) who said, No, I could not do that because the coupon policy was 1 coupon per customer per day.

I then called customer service, who told me that I COULD in fact use multiple coupons to make the separate transactions, and that I should return to the store with 1 coupon for each transaction. She then called the store to be sure they knew I was coming back, and she returned and said, oh im sorry maam, I was wrong, and it is actually one coupon per customer per day.

So, as you can see, I was told on multiple occasions that I would in fact be able to use one coupon with each separate transaction, but then the story changed several times.

My second issue in this scenario, is that this is false advertisement. The $3.50 coupon does not say, "One coupon per customer per day" and it does not say this on their website under the coupon policy either.

Since I had gone to the store at an earlier date, just to make sure that I would be able to use the coupons, AND the fact that I spoke to 2 separate managers to make sure I could use the coupons, and they neglected to tell me that I would be unable to use the coupons, I believe that this is above and beyond the effort a consumer must go through to be sure they are within the coupon restraints.
