Underdog Rescue, Inc. Reviews (2)

[redacted] adopted a cat from Underdog Rescue on 12/17/2016.  The adoption fee was $195, which was inclusive of applicable state sales tax.  The cat in question was born on 9/10/2016. On 1/2/2017, a certificate for a free spay was sent to her to be used at the Uptown Veterinarian....

That certificate had an expiration date of 5/10/2017.  [redacted] had her adopted cat spayed almost four months past the expiration date.  On the day of the spay, when notified an adopter was trying to use a long since expired spay certificate, it was made clear to the Uptown Vet that Underdog Rescue could not honor it.  That in turn was relayed to [redacted] by the the clinic staff, as we understand.  We date all of our certificates.  For the surgery to be done through Underdog Rescue, it must be completed by that date.  It took several days, but we were able to reach the foster person for the cat in question.  To her memory, she did not tell the adopter Underdog Rescue would pay for her adopted cat's spay, as long as it was a year or less.  That is not, nor has it ever been our policy, as put in writing in our adoption contract and on our spay certificate.  The cat in question could have been in heat for the past 6 months.  Spaying at six months is what is best for the cat.  We would have hoped [redacted]'s regular vet would have instructed her accordingly.  Our policy was very clear and we have a copy of the certificate that supports it.  We are sorry that [redacted] did not get her cat spayed in a timely matter, in accordance to our adoption contract and as specified on the spay certificate that she received over eight months ago.

I am rejecting this response because:
This is difficult since it’s “he said she said”, but we were definitely told by the foster parent that she could be spayed within the first year. And secondly, we ask Uptown Vet if UR (Underdog Rescue) would accept this certificate, and they said that it shouldn’t be a problem for UR to accept this certificate since they have in the past. Also, the voucher does not say "expiration".To UR: Please accept the voucher for spay. We are not unreasonable people. We love our cat. We are not irresponsible cat owners. We just have never had a young cat who needed a spay before, so we fully relied on the info by the host mother, and the information by Uptown Vet who were certain in the integrity of UR to honor the voucher as well. Yes, the voucher has a date range but it does not say "expiration" and the cat was spayed outside of this range, but multiple people told us that this would be honored. We could not get in contact with you, so we relied on this information from other people to be true. Again, we still are aiming for a positive relationship with UR. We are looking for more animals to join our cat and we definitely consider UR for adoption again. What we ask in return is to please honor the voucher.  Let’s move forward with a positive relationship together.
