August 15, 2016To Whom It May Concern:This letter is in response to complaint *** received by The Hay-Adams HotelOn July 22, an unfortunate event occurred in the hotel's bar, Off the RecordThe guests recount of what occurred differs from our staff reportOur staff deemed it necessary
to stop serving alcohol to such guests, after behavior proved necessaryAs a responsible establishment, The Hay-Adams staff has an obligation and right to not serve alcohol, under the "ABRA official code title 25, article 25-781: Sale to minor or intoxicated persons"Unfortunately, when the complaint was presented to the Manager on Duty that evening, he was not given the opportunity to remedy the situation by the guestRather, the guest abruptly decided to leave the hotel and find alternate accommodations, which we assisted in securing for them upon their requestAccording to our cancellation policy, we would have normally charged for the evening of occupancy and in addition, for the following nightThe reservation they held was for nights; however, we felt it was fair to only charge for night of the stayAt no point did we assure the guests that we would waive all charges for their rooms; the guests had already occupied the rooms that dayWe cancelled their reservation for the following nights and waived all cancellation fees.Sincerely,
