Beware HORRIBLE company
the customer service here is HORRIBLE. They do not return calls, they drop the ball consistently, and they lay blame on others.
The install crews do not care about your property, they will do what they want and leave a mess that you will need to clean up. When you call to complain the customer service rep will make excuses and talk over you like you're a minor child be scolded.
They will not follow up with the electric company to make sure that your home is ready for the system to go live, and it will fall on you to make sure that the meter is the NET meter you need, but don't worry the customer service rep from unicity will say your home was built with the correct meter so you don't need to worry till you are still receiving bills from the solar and the electric company.
Do yourself a favor and do your research before you sign with this company.

HORRIFIC CUSTOMER SERVICE!! ALL LIES AND NO FOLLOW-THROUGH! GO ANYWHERE ELSE OTHER THAN UNICITY!

Research research, we went with Unicity for our solar panels. It was excellent at first! The owner called us directly to discuss everything and panels were installed within a week. After the panels were installed, the customer went straight off a of a cliff!

1. We were told the panels would produce a portion of our electricity even if Duke hadn't installed the net meter. This was not the case and when I called (a couple different times) to inquire as to why, I was told by Unicity's owner that I am mistaken. I offered to show him my bills as proof so then he blamed it on Duke Energy and out "look into it."

2. We were told we would not have to pay a penny to the finance company until the net meter was installed. Our net meter was fully installed on March 10, 2020, panels were installed on Oct 10, 2019). The finance company started to bill us on January 1, 2020. Unicity paid one payment for us; however, when we asked about February's payment, we were told the check was in the mail. WE STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED SAID CHECK!

3. We called Unicity every month to check on the status of our net meter. Starting in December we were told it should be anytime. In January we were told that the application was put in the husbands name instead of the wife's name (which the Duke Energy account is under) and thus rejected. We were very clear over and over that the energy account is in the wife's name. I am not even sure how they got another application through without us having to resign a new application???? After everything was done, Duke Energy provided me a copy of the application, it was NEVER input in the husbands name!

Late January/early February, Unicity stated that our net meter would be installed between Feb 10-15. That time frame came and left. We finally called Duke Energy ourselves towards the end of February. Something I learned I should have just done from the beginning. Duke informed us that they were only waiting on proof of the additional umbrella insurance that was required. We have emails showing that this documentation was sent to Unicity in November 2019. I forwarded the required documentation and the net meter was installed within a week.

Lie after lie after lie from Unicity. The only way we ever heard from them was if we called to "check in". I love having solar power but I wish I would have gone with another company. I was efully expecting the whole experience to take a month or two but ours took 5 months because Unicity failed to follow up and do the rest of their job (they made promises that we would NOT have to deal with Duke Energy during this process). This cost us additional money. Unicity will only give you excellent service until they put the panels in! GO ELSEWHERE!!!

We are Electrical Contractors that not only performed a perfect install for the customer, but also provided the client with in-house discounted pricing beating every other competitor with similar warranties. I can go on and on about the inaccuracy of this review but our work speaks for itself. We wish her the best of luck with the remaining 25+ years of life for her system.

I started researching about solar PV system through Energy Sage and requested what I believed was the best system for our climate and my home. I received several quotes and wasn't impressed by any one of them.
Just one company from the list didn't want to give me an estimate. I emailed them asking why and got their explanation about how and what they do to give customers the best quality of equipment and the best service and warranty for a reasonable price. That company was Unicity Solar Energy Inc.. I called them, talked to John S. and with no sales pitch at all, got answers to all my questions and concerns. He prepared me an estimate and emailed it for review. His price wasn't the lowest, but neither the highest, felt just right and I pulled the trigger. I had to replace my roof too and it took me almost two months to finish it. During that time I was informed about design-permit approval and within a week of my roof completion my solar system was working. The installers with Donnie as lead electrician did great job in one day. We had a little hick up, more to confirm how great their customer service was fixing it up a day after my email. They expedited even OUC to get new electric meter sooner than promised. My system is producing what was promised and I'm very happy with it.
Now I'm extending my system to be able to charge my new electric vehicle and you can guess who I'm going to use again. Thank you John S., Nolan, Donnie and crew, on a great experience in times when is very hard to find competent knowledgeable and honest people to do business with.

Unicity installed 32 panels on my roof and I am very happy with the entire process. They got the job done very quickly, about 3 weeks from the time I signed up with them and now my first power bills since being on solar with my new meter they have only been $9. I highly recommend Unicity if you are thinking of going solar.
