Scammed
I wish I had read these reviews prior to purchasing this discounted insurance. I was told by the agent that I would have medical, dental, vision and prescription with no co-pay. They would not cover existing issues until after a year with them. They mentioned major medical which they explained had to do with pregnancy and drug use. Everything sounded great, so I went ahead and purchased the plan. Thought everything was good until I received a bill from my doctor's office and I had to pay for my prescription. I called to find out that my plan was nothing like they said. They have no health insurance, only discounted health insurance. I also paid $99 for enrollment, which I was told by their prescription department is a red flag. If I'm being charged an enrollment fee, it is scam. The phone # UCA is 855-577-1608.

I want to thank everyone who left a warning! I signed up for this today and felt uneasy about it after not getting the e-mail they said they were sending me. I looked it up and saw all your scam alerts. I immediately called my credit card and got all payments stopped and blocked all future payments. Thank you again to everyone that shared their experiences.

I've purchased the uca ,continental ppo plan under false representation. I spoke with michael croqueze, he made everything sound so good everything I was looking for, a ppo plan that was accepted by all my dr's and the hospital, I kept asking what my deductible was going to be, his responds was always, "you don't have a deductible you are covered 100%' took my info asked a few more questions, then passed me over to a lady explaining more about the price, because I had a pre- existing medical condition I needed the plan for blood work (wellness)and prescription cause these were separate from the health which that was only for dr visits. After 2mths of having a bad feeling that this was a piece of st insurance and calling asking why they haven't paid for services to the dr when I received a benefit of claim in the amount of $489. They told me i'm not covered 100% it was coverage of anywhere of 5%-50% . They told me I had a plan called limited after telling the lady that when I spoke with michael he kept reassuring me I was covered 100%, she said she can't go according to what he told me and she was sorry. After a sleepiness night I called my bank and closed that credit card so they wouldn't be able to take more money. They are scammers! How do they sleep at night? Don't they have a conscious? How would they feel if their mother or father were lied to? I guess they do it to keep a job, sad, very sad!

What phone number did you actually get in touch with them

Wow! What a lovely group of individuals. The CARE Team hosts scholarship contests based on topics any student can partake in, giving a real chance to students from all walks of life. Their CARE store features items for sale that benefit different charities. I love being a member and reading up on their new initiatives. Keep up the good work!

Good people doing good things! This caring group has several scholarships available for kids, they provide ongoing support to animal rescues animals, and they support Save the Rain projects that provide clean drinking water in Tanzania to water starved communities. They really do promote caring. Happy to be a member!

The Unified Care Association is a great organization. They give many wonderful scholarships, and support many wonderful charities. Great to see a company giving back.

Hi Donna,
Since you have all the names, dates etc - call your bank - and do “a chargeback”.

I had to do that as well. I got money from my bank and those checks were later nulled since I got money back. They did write 3 separate checks after 5 months. But I reported to them that I got money back already.
Hopefully it was a charge on a card - it’s easy for the bank to charge it back to their card processing merchant.
Present it to the bank with names and dates and they’ll be glad to investigate and issue you a temp credit etc. if checking account used and monthly payments- thrn call bank and stop payments and give them exact amount that will be pulled each month. That costs $15. It’s s stop payment on a check or a specific amount.
I hope this helped.

Welcome to hell. A company that will get your number when you go online seeking real health insurance information and will call you incessantly. A company that will feed you misrepresentations and omit a ton of vital information. A company with representatives who are blatantly evasive and will give you false information like someone with no conscience. A company that preys on people who can least afford it: 1. Uninsured and afraid; 2. Limited financial resources; 3. Rushed and overloaded, 4. New to seeking individual insurance coverage, 5. Alone without anyone to consult who has their best interest in mind. On well, at least it's not about life and death, right?

When I signed up over the phone 28 nov' 17..The plan was titled multi plan ppo..The agent made it sound like the he offered me mirrored the 750 ppo health insurance plan bc/bs, I had for 17 years with american airlines, as I had taken early retirement last year and now had to replace my health insurance plan on my own for my husbund and I . I agreed to pay (4) four charges to start this plan 01jan'18 as follows..$722.95 for the medical portion, $39.97 for the prescription portion, $68.93 for the wellness portion, and $41.97 for the dental vision..And a one time pay of $170 for the plan membership. I had spent an hour on the phone arranging this sounding " really great health insurance plan.. That would meet all my needs". To date 11dec'17 I have never recieved any hard paper copies of the above mentioned plan..And the charges where taken out of my checking and a/e on 29nov. On 10 dec I finally, after multiple calls, got someone on the phone at 844 897 1810 who told me the name of the plan was not multi plan ppo.. A subsisidiary of blue cross/blue shield..But was titled perennial care/uca..As I could never find multi plan ppo online. I immediately pulled up that title on the computer to find infor on this policy. I immediatly found text on the front intro page titled " imperative information"..Which clearly reads " this is not major medical or comprehensive health coverage, and is neither minimum essential coverage..Under the aca, nor is it workers' comp. If you do not have minimum essential coverage you may be required by federal law to pay an additional fees with your taxes. These insurance benefits are limited and include a pre-existing medical conditions limitation. ! None of this was mentioned by the agent..Who to date has not called me back. The agent also told me that pre -existing conditions would not be a factor and I would be able to use my present doctor and my biologic for my condition for the past 10 years. I checked with bc/bs and they certainly are not affliated with this uca. 888 633 5085 only is an answering service... No returned calls to date. Under terms and conditions is a section that reads for cancellations call 888 633 5085 "or e-mail" to [email protected] to cancel at anytime. The terms and conditions included in the website states"if you are not completely satisfied you will be sent a full refund of the fee only if the cancellation is received within thirty (30) days. On the web site the section on providers could not come up with the doctors and specialist the the agent promised me could be used by this plan. My rheumatiod doctor said her office was not aware of this supposed health plan..To date I have called american express to begin an investigation to dispute the payment to this fraudulent company and it's agents. I will have to begin a law suit in the middle of the christmas season if I dont hear that my full refund might be coming! I also have ties with a prominent news broadcaster in jacksonville florida, ken amaro, on your side consumer reporter, first coast news nbc 12 ..He will be my second call at 0800 12 dec'17.. Right after I call the member services 888 633-5085 for the 15th time in (8) eight days...The so called plan was called the liberty plan. The business has a mailing address in lake shasta, california..To date there have been no fires in the lake shasta area of california.. I feel so violated and will seek vindication every way I possibly can to this fradululent uca membership plan.

Hi yes I am a victim of this also! I just applied on Dec 25th 2018. I’m just realizing now that it definitely is a scam a real good one too is there any number that you actually got a person on the phone to cancel your plan or do you just suggested I cancel my credit card and call my bank I really like to try to get a refund on my initial payment. I might have to take my losses but I’m going to try so sad I called healthy gov .com and and they referred me to this agency. I’m so angry right now the same exact thing was said to me that was said to you it sounds like . They made it seem so professional .
Thank you for any help or advice you can give me
Pattie

This had happened to my boyfriend and I signed him up for it last year. I wrote down the times I spoke with people and their names etc. it took me 5 months to get money back. I did a chargeback with my bank. Whenever you sign up for supplemental or term medical or the enrollment period lapsed - use credit or debit card - that way it’s easy for your bank to issue a temporary credit while they research it. Although he never tried the ins.
I did a single plan for myself which was do calked multiplan - actually it worked for my ER visit. I paid zero and bill came in the mail after 60 days and I owed $15.
Also - I quest diagnostics my multiplan/ACA Card - did not pay a dime at the counter. Not all was covered but 80% if all tests were.
Although when I went to see my pcp / he said the same thing that he never heard of it or that it is a “discount plan” and he doesn’t participate. I believe most doctor offices don’t know how to bill it, but it does offer great discounts and covers a lot without paying deductible.

They got me too this evening u fortunately.

Review: In February 2015, when I was looking to enroll for Market Place health care insurance for myself, I received a phone call from a Unified Caring Association (UCA) agent offering me a health care policy. The representative ([redacted]) came across as if he was selling me comprehensive health insurance coverage and asked me some questions about myself and my health to get me "approved". Upon approval, they sign me up right away, leaving me to think I have health insurance coverage. I do business with this company until November 2015, paying my monthly fee of $176.95, without ever receiving the policy terms and coverage benefits, which I find odd. Upon research after my accountant requires me to give him a 1095 from my health insurance company yesterday Feb 18th, 2016, I call UCA and they tell me my policy was only a health savings program, not a medial coverage policy, which they misrepresented from the beginning as a health insurance coverage. A quick [redacted] search uncovers a few fraud reports on this company. And now left without a 1095 form to prove I had health coverage (which I though all along I had), I am faced with a tax penalty for not enrolling in the Market Place in 2015.Desired Settlement: I want complete refund of my misrepresented coverage ($176.95 per month for 10 months) and of the tax penalty that is awaiting me.

Response:

Mr. [redacted] purchased a Universal Health One Membership in the Unified Caring Association on January20, 2015. These memberships are sold by independent licensed agents.During the enrollment process, members are informed that the membership does not meet ACA requirements, in addition, in Mr. [redacted]'s brochure, it states that the membership does not meet ACA requirements. Records indicate that Mr. [redacted] downloaded his brochure from his portal on January 21, 2015. Members are given a 30 cancellation period after enrollment, during which they may cancel their membership and receive a refund. Mr. [redacted] did not cancel within this 30 day cancellation period. We are disappointed that Mr. [redacted] was not satisfied with his membership, however a refund at this time is not possible.Thank you for your patience,

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: I did purchase a "Membership" from them, after their agent sold it to me as if it was going to be complete medial coverage, not just a discount services for things I am not even interested in purchasing. The misrepresentation from their agent is what I am livid about.I did download the brochure available online and read it in its entirety. I did find it odd my benefits were not clearly explained like I thought they would (co-pays, deductible, medications, etc.) but did not think twice about it due to what the agent ([redacted]) told me and how he presented the policy (or what I thought was a policy) to me.I am still asking for a refund, for the misrepresentation of the product that was being sold to me and also for the risks that I incurred going about my life without health insurance coverage because of being misled. I have already had 3 people call me asking me my opinion about this company. Be it known they are not customers of UCA at the moment and I will keep on being an advocate against this business until the problem is solved. It can cost them a lot more than a single member refund, if they are not smart about it.Thank you for addressing my request. [redacted]

Response:

Dear [redacted]We are disappointed that Mr. [redacted] was not satisfied with our response. As stated previously, association memberships are sold by independent licensed agents. Mr. [redacted] was informed of the cancellation policy both during the enrollment verification and again in the brochure he downloaded. Records indicate that Mr. [redacted] did not call Customer Service to discuss what he thought her purchased. Rather, he continued his association membership and even called to discuss adding his wife to the association membership.I have attached the members benefit brochure and I also attached the cancellation snapshot for you. the cancellation information is on page 10 under terms & conditions # 3.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my concern.

may 25, 2016 this misleading company's agent amy shepherd "american health assoc." called my cellphone early that morning, trying to assist me in finding insurance that I would qualify for. Due to the fact I am currently pregnant she stated she could assign me what is called "Coventry insurance" which would only cover pregnancy not delivery or birth. She stated on what she says is a recorded line that I would by September or October be ending Coventry and be automatically assigned to Obama Care insurance which would cover my delivery and birth. Because I didn't have credit card at time, I was told to call back when I did or they would call me back as they couldn't hold rate $319 monthly fee. After explaining to my husband the details of my benefits medical, hospital coverage, life insurance policy, rx coverage, and monthly costs of $319 for both of us he discontently agreed to sign up. The next day may 26 I directly called amy shepherd to pay initial 1 time $135 signing fee. I was told my monthly fee would be $229 which she was able to discount just for signing to their life insurance policy. I read cc information to her where she said she then would prep me for 2nd call with rep on recorded line. On that 2nd call the woman spoke fast making simple statements ex:) you agree that your policy includes life insurance as so was agreed with your agent Amy?...etc. This woman verified last 4 digits of my cc and reiterated monthly fee was 229 due at date by my request or choice but due now was 1 time fee 135. Agreed. Amy got back on phone and said if I have any questions she is my first point of contact. we hung up. The following day may 27 there was additional charge to my cc totaling $89. Due to memorial weekend I had to wait until Tuesday to call to discuss this as my husband was livid with me, as on may 26 total of $364 was withdrawn and the following day $89 was withdrawn.I called and finally got Amy who needed to speak with her "underwriters"and call me back in 2 hours. 3 hours later I called her, she asked me to fwd copies of my bank statement proving withdraws. I fwd her 2 statements from her company showing the withdraws on different dates. She said she finally received emails and would need to review and show underwriters and call me back. That didn't happen until Wednesday. no call so I called her again directly, where she tried to tell me, originally my monthly fee would have been $519 but the additional $89 abled her to reduce to $319. This was a lie as I would have hung up on her knowing she was just telemarketer from the beginning of all this. I told her that's not at all what we spoke about and I never would have aggreed to that amount and the $229 total is what was my definite ok with deciding to sign up. She immediately put me on hold to transfer her underwriter Devin on phone. Devin only said hello and asked would I like the phone #to the cancelation process? to which I answered, yes! He gave me #, and hung up. As it was roughly after hours when I called the #they were closed for the business day. So here I am same evening looking up this company and feel compelled to write a review. After reading previous complaint, I realize I don't have id# bin# or rx# only a member # which isn't the coverage I was told I am paying for, And the unprofessional agent and underwriter who come off as a scam are causing serious 2nd thoughts. I would like to know what coverage I have? I can't find anything through website that says Coventry insurance, and I can't find any information thru my emails about this company, american health, their phone #s, their website, or any vouching proof that I wasn't just scammed.
