Review: My car was overheating on 6/7/2014. I brought my car to be diagnosed and serviced on 6/7/2014 at Complete Performance, Inc. I requested them to check the engine, and they said that they would and that it might also be the thermostat. After the diagnosis, I was told that my radiator was leaking and that I needed to replace my radiator, radiator cap, and radiator hoses. I asked if my engine was okay, and they told me my engine was fine, they also said that my thermostat was fine. I am not a mechanic and I trusted that they were telling me the right thing about my vehicle, so I agreed to the suggested replacement. I paid five hundred and eleven dollars for diagnosis and replacement of the radiator, radiator cap, and radiator hoses. On 7/14/2014 I was driving and began to smell a burning smell of coolant. I pulled over and noticed that there was wet stuff sprayed everywhere and that the radiator hose was not attached to the radiator. I tried to attached the radiator hose back to the radiator the best I could, I also tried to clean up the coolant sprayed everywhere. I checked my coolant levels and they were full but had a foamy reddish color on top. I took my car into Complete Performance, Inc. on 7/15/2014 and informed [redacted] of what occurred, he said info from my last service with them was not in his system. He said if I did not bring him the receipt that he would charge me to diagnosis again. I brought the receipt, he supposedly performed another diagnosis for free and told me that my engine had problems with putting pressure on my radiator but and that my engine was causing my radiator to crack and that I would have to pay over 2000 dollars to fix it. I searched out a second opinion and was told that Complete Performance was responsible for the damage caused to my engine when the radiator hose came off and that they should fix it. I called them and they told me that was wrong and that I needed to fix my engine. [redacted] said that I should call the BAR and that we would both see when the rep comes.Desired Settlement: Full refund of five hundred and eleven dollars in addition to payment for a proper diagnosis and replacement of any damage caused to my engine or any part of my car that was effected due to the radiator not being replaced properly and the hose popping off.

Response:

When customer originally came, her vehicle over heated on her, when we performed cooling system pressure test, we found coolant leak at radiator, recommend to replace radiator, radiator hoses and radiator cap due to leak and high miles, Now she have further damage due to overheating and she is blaming on shop. She drove her vehicle to extend before to repair shop.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because:

I do realize that my car was overheating prior to coming to Complete Performance Inc. ([redacted]'s Car Maintenance Shop). Although I asked them to perform a complete diagnosis, including checking my engine, because I was worried about my engine. I also asked them to check my thermostat. I was told that my engine and thermostat was fine and that my radiator, radiator cap, and radiator hoses needed replacement. They told me that cars sometimes with high mileage have cases where the radiator just becomes worn out. Now, why would they charge me five hundred and eleven dollars to fix my radiator if my radiator was not the root of the problem, and if they performed the proper diagnosis (as I requested). If I would have known that my engine had a problem in the first place I would not have spent that money on the radiator to no purpose. I was given false information, when I was told that my radiator was the problem, if so be, that my engine was the core issue. Due to the fact that I was misguided and mislead by the employees of Complete Performance Inc. in regards to making appropriate and accurate decisions about my vehicle, I deserve at least a full refund of five hundred and eleven dollars, and that is what I am asking for.

Review: My complaint is against, [redacted] and owner, wife, [redacted], of Complete Performance located Old Town Elk Grove CA. On 05/16/2013 [redacted] sold and installed a new battery a new battery for me because mine was not holding a charge. Within a months time frame afterwards that new battery leaked battery acid all throughout under the hood of my [redacted]. Once I realized this I called [redacted] and he asked me to bring it in so he could inspect it to determine if the leak was due to it being a defect or installation issue. [redacted] said he had to determine this in order to know how to go about getting it replaced. [redacted] did end up replacing my battery with a new one, Im assuming, at no charge. After receiving the replacement battery I then address with [redacted] about the long-term damage that the acid may have done that we arent seeing the affects to right now. [redacted] said no problem if anything should happens just bring it back in. I advised [redacted] I was putting the [redacted] on a non-opt due to just getting a new car so it may be a while. [redacted] said no problem; if I find anything later on down the road just give him a call and he'll take care of it. Several times I confirmed the lengthily time frame with [redacted] and he clearly understood by responding not to worry just bring it to him and if there's any issues he'll handle it, if no issues come up then we're all good. Here we are about a year later I still have my car on a non-opt but now I am fixing it up. My new car ended up being a lemon and it took time to resolve. I advised [redacted] about my lemon lawsuit too. I only drove my car from point A to B when I wasnt able to put my car in reverse, and then first and then lost all gears. All I can say, without my car, that theres a part thats no longer existing around the shifting gear under which is under the battery plate where the battery leaked acid and this part doesnt just disappear it gets replaced. I called [redacted], without hesitation he said he remembered, above conversation, and even the frame it could take to address issues with the car. [redacted] told me again no problem have it towed in. I had the car towed in I did not got to the shop given hes on the other side of town from where I live. He asked me if I would agree to pay $50 if he serviced my car. I told him he should be given doing this regardless. As a good will gesture I agreed to pay the money for fixing my car. I didnt hear from [redacted] for two weeks, I was sick for a week too. No update calls at all so I called him. He asked me if Interstate Batteries called me yet and I said no. [redacted] called me back and so did the Sales Manager from Interstate. The both of them told me that the battery acid wouldnt have done that damage, as if it was some special battery acid not capable of doing damage. So the representative and [redacted] both arent willing to cover the damage. As if I'm just going to leave it at that. During this time when [redacted] had my car, he took upon himself, to replace the current battery and paint over the battery plate where all the rust and corrosion was from the acid leak. I never authorized [redacted] to do any work on my car nor did he provide me a work order invoice showing this was done. He could have called as we know but chose not to. I do have pictures prior to [redacted] covering up the damageHe informed me the parts and labor with $50 for doing the work would cost me $450.00. He kept asking me Do you want me to order the part, so do you want me to order it and do the work for you, about three times in a row cutting me off. Finally I said no, and Why would I pay you for damage your battery did to my car that you're not covering. [redacted] asked me Well than what do you want me to do to for you Shannon, how can I make this better. I said fix my car like you should and said you would. [redacted] said Id tell you what; lets not worry about this right now. Ill see what I can do, you go have a nice holiday weekend, go have some wine on me and dont worry let me handle this. No worries [redacted] said. At this point he had my car for 3 weeks. Well the only thing [redacted] did was make promises he failed to keep, gave me miss information and broke his promises. He sure said all the right things but did nothing. He took advantage of me. He refused to fix my car so I said I was going to let the Revdex.com of Automotive handle this from here. At that point [redacted] snapped and became highly irate, yelling at me angrily that he did everything to try to help me and Im not being fare why do I have to bring them into it, and told me to get my car out of his shop right now. He scared and startled me when he yelled like that all the sudden, so I hung up. I called a tow truck to pick up my vehicle. Once the tow truck driver got there he calls me and says [redacted] wouldn't let him have my car cause I have a bill. I called [redacted] and he said I had to pay $50 now or no car. I refused to pay him cause I never agreed to that and told him he didn't do anything. And now because I refuse to just pay him to fix my car and holding him accountable to his promise on the information and reassurance he provided me he's furious! I told him I found out he didn't file a claim on the battery issue either, and he started yelling again I was done. So since then I've called the Sheriffs to his shop and they told [redacted] to give me my car and he refused said I didn't pay my bill in response I said, I never agreed nor signed that I would pay him $50 to do nothing. He's not fixing the issue so why would I agree to give him even more money when this is his fault. That makes absolutely no sense! Sheriffs advised me I had to take this to small claims court from here. I have report number for that visit. Recently after that visit I found out [redacted] has taken a lien out on my car for $1,800. 00. This is OUTRIEGOUS and entrapment. [redacted] set me up as cause I'm an independent woman. He made promises that he knew he wouldnt fulfill and thisDesired Settlement: What Im asking is more than reasonable still even after being taken full advantage of. I do not want [redacted] touching my car but Im asking for him to pay the cost to get it fixed. Either way no matter how long if he filed the claim with Interstate Battery this could have been all avoided. I dont feel I should have to pay for [redacted]s mistake of not happening and neither does Interstate. I want to be reimbursed for having to rent cars here and there, lost wages for having to take time off to fight for what's right, not to mention a reasonable amount of compensation for money I normally wouldn't have spent to have others drive my 10 year old daughter to school, me to work and pick us up. [redacted] and his wife wrongful stole from my family and me in a very greedy vindictive and cold way. He took no accountability even knowing and admitting he remembered he would take care of the situation back then and now. No money can fix this experience. This kind of greed only comes from guilt.

Review: My husband knew [redacted] (owner), so we thought we could trust this place, NOT! To make a long story short, our car wouldn't pass smog, and it needed a neutral shift switch, I told him how much another place was going to charge me and he said "going off that price, it has to be this switch (instead of what I originally told him), that's because he used Honda, and the part was twice as much through Honda vs kragen. So when it was time to get my car, he said it didn't fix it and I need a new transmission, and wouldn't pass smog until it was replaced, which would be 4,100, mind you this is just our commuter car that my husband uses, its a 2001 Honda accord, (not worth 4,100) and he told me "Come back here and I'll help you, but its like going to the doctor you want to go to the same one and not jump around", (ya, because he was ripping me off and if I went somewhere else, they would tell me I don't need a new transmission). So my husband decided hes just going to get the part himself, (the one we were originally told it was by the code), he put it on, and surprise surprise it was fixed and a week later we took it to get a smog check and it PASSED, and the light is still off! And it only cost $113.00 out the door, so we just wasted all that money when he should have just fixed the original problem in the first place, the part he replaced wasn't even bad. Total rip off!Desired Settlement: 133.50 for the wrong part he replaced
