Union Bank & Trust Reviews (41)

Review: In 2012 I was co-signer on an account for another person.(son) a few months later I asked the other person to open account in own name --asked Union bank to close account with my name on it. From what I can see and understand they did change the other person account and address but failed to remove my name. I received no statements and nothing concerning this account after that. Until 3 weeks ago I went into Branch to open a business account and a personal savings account and I 'm supposed to have a write off for 196.00 which I knew nothing about, and as of today (12/30/2015 I have no idea what this write off is for.

I never receive anything concerning this write off because if I had it would have been straighten out then and there because I am very serious about my financial and credit worthiness. I feel that if there was a write off or anything else I should have been notified, I should have received statements and anything involved with the account if I was supposed to be co-signer and especially if there were problems with the account. But I did not receive because they knew the account was in the other person name & address. There’s a clerk in the bank name Linda and she know this account was closed with my name on it but she refused to go against manager. I was told to talk to a woman name Rebecca -called and talked to her claim would call me back the next day -never heard anything from her until today 12/30/2015 I called , then she directs me to Linda [redacted], talked to her she states - I'm in a write off of 196.00. My concern is this; why was I not informed of what was going on with account? Why did I not receive any statements or information on this account until almost 4 years later, after going into bank? I have never had any problem with any bank; I have always had excellent credit and NEVER had any write off on any kind .I was NEVER notified of anything concerning this account after my son changed account and address. It was their duty to let me know when address and account was changed, and what problem caused the write off (if I was still co-signer)I have no idea what the 196.00 is for or how it got to be that amount.Desired Settlement: I would like for this write off to remove from my name. I owe Union Bank nothing... It was their obligation to notify me of son changing address and account information. How was I to know if they did not inform me? They had my telephone number and address, because when the account was first opened the addresses were the same. It is not fair four years of a write off and no notice of any kind

I have no idea what activated a write off with Union Bank .I have other Bank accounts and if anything change on my account I am immediately notified and asked did I make this change .Union bank has it first time to notify me of anything.

Response:

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to Ms. [redacted]'s concerns. When someone agrees to be a cosigner or joint account holder, whether the account is a deposit or loan account, the person accepts responsibility for the account. When the address was changed on the account, as is our policy, the address change notice was sent to both the new and old address. This is a security measure to make sure all parties know of the change and alert account holders to any unauthorized changes to their accounts. Additionally, we cannot remove a name from an account unless an account holder is deceased. Again, this is a security measure to ensure that ownership and liability rights of the joint account only cease with account closure or death. In speaking with all the teammates Ms. [redacted] has worked with, including Lora [redacted], Union would be happy to open Ms. [redacted]'s accounts as soon as the outstanding debt is paid by either account holder. Unfortunately, we cannot open an account when the bank is owed a collection debt by an account holder. Please let me know if we can provide any other information or assistance.Sincerely, Jason A. Response:

I DID NOT received no such letter from this bank because if I had we would not be where we are now. I would have did something about it . I have a one credit and I do not allow negative reports on my accounts because I am a responsible person. This bank did not notify me of any changes in address. I have the first time to receive anything from this bank . I learned of owing this bank money After going into the bank to open an account. Do you think I would have come in if I owe you money? Stop lying and owe up to your mistake YOU DID NOT NOTIFY ME OF NOTHING concerning this account. THIS MATTER WOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN CARE OF AND WOULD NOT HAVE GOTTEN THIS FAR IF THEY HAD NOTIFIED ME. THEY DID NOT DO IT , AND PLEASE STOP LYING.
