Failure to release escrow overage in excess of $3000
I have a loan with Union Home Mortgage since 2018 and have refinanced twice. This last instance I was expecting an escrow check of $1600 which was mailed 2/23/2021. I contacted there office after waiting the 10 business days. It was confirmed the payment was mailed. After waiting an entire month and no check received I contacted there customer service rep Dana (8FC). I asked to speak to a supervisor and the customer service told me she could not transfer me to a supervisor. I questioned this which I thought was unheard of and later found out was a LIE. She canceled my check on 3/22/2021, and stated a new check would be issued. She also was not very knowledgeable and seemed unable to interpret the notes in my record. I called back after 2 weeks to check on the status and was told the check was mailed and that the correct amount was over $3000 most likely due to my refinance and my escrow account being closed. Now it has been more than 10 business days and no check other than $79 from the closed mortgage I refinanced. I have never been late on any mortgage payment so why shouldn't the lender be held to the same standards. As a disabled combat Veteran this is totally wrong on all levels. Especially during these times when people are losing there houses left and right and just trying to live.

Forebearance
I made an inquiry at the start of the Covid 19 to see what they were doing to help their customers who during that time, I was emailed the only option was a forebearance. I did not sign up for a forebearance or authorize this and kept making my payments each month in full and on time. However Union Home Mortgage put my account on a forebearance, noted my credit account with a remark on deferement and now my account is being handled by their collections department even though they can confirm all payments were made and on time. This company is a total scam, a forebearance should have been signed for by me not determined by the mortgage company just based on an inquiry, my credit is not noted with something that was not ever done, and altough the mortgage company says this wont affect my credit all other resources say this will have a negative impact should I want to refinance or get another mortgage. do not do business with this mortgage company, our loan was sold to them and ever since it was sold it has been one thind after another, including not recording our insurance payments even though the insurance company could confirm the money was send over multiple times.

Stay clear of Union Home Mortgage in Wilmington NC
I am completely disgusted with Union Home Mortgage in Wilmington, NC. I’m the seller and the buyer of my previous home used this lazy, worthless company. We went under contact on our home March 9th and mutually agreed on our close date of April 22nd. Up to this point my amazing agents we being told by the mortgage company that everything was in order and that we were on track to close April 22nd with no issues. On April 21st just before close of business my agents were notified that the close would not happen the next day as scheduled despite the fact that the final walk-thru was done that day and our house keys turned over to the buyer’s agent. Our loan hadn’t even been sent to the underwriter.

This was COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE! The day before the close, less than 24 hours before we are scheduled to close we were told this news. We were told that the office is backed up due to the coronavirus and that instead of processing the buyer’s loan the underwriters were busy working on refi loans. The loan process had been started 5 weeks previously for our buyer!. Union Home Mortgage had 5 weeks to process the loan for our buyer in order to close on our original closing date but failed to do so.

Union Home Mortgage waited until the last minute to notify us and then took an additional 7 days after our original close to have the paperwork ready for the new close. When we pushed for a revised date they initially stated that they had no idea how long it would take. We reached out to the underwriter’s supervisor and he told us that he had no control over his employees since they were working from home. This is another example of the horrendous nature of Union Home Mortgage. The next day we threatened to retake our keys from the buyer’s agent and within a few hours we “magically” received an email with a new close date of April 28th.

If the virus was an issue why were we getting updates from the mortgage agent that everything was fine... until the night before and then the stall tactics. Union Home Mortgage was a complete joke during this process and we would NEVER advise anyone to use them unless you want poor service and broken promises.
