Thank you for allowing me to respond to the [redacted]'s complaint against Palmiero Toyota. I have personally spoken to Mr. [redacted] and I feel badly that he is unsatisfied with his experience at Palmiero. When he brought his vehicle in we hooked it up to the diagnostic scan tool. ...
This allows us to advise the customer which parts are involved in relation to the service lights on the dashboard. I am happy for him that tapping on a part and disconnecting a battery worked for him but that is not how we repair cars at this dealership. The diagnostic code did indicate the Skid Control ECU should be replaced. I spoke with one of my technicians and he explained to me the part can act up intermittently before it fails completely. (This means the part can get a little more use out of it before it completely fails) as I explained to Mr. [redacted] we are happy his tapping of the ABS computer and jiggling the brake master cylinder float extended the life of the part, but if the light comes back on and does not go off he may want to reconsider replacing the part. The diagnosis was not a misdiagnosis so I do not feel it is correct to refund the money for the time and equipment spent on his vehicle.
