Review: I went to this facility under the agreement I would be performing a clinical research consumer test for 50.00 compensation whether I was a approved candidate or not. I made the appointment and went on 11/26/13. I was deemed ineligible, and when I asked for my agreed upon compensation they offered me 25.00, and the woman I set up the appointment and received the information from named [redacted] denied the conversation, claiming I was to be paid only if I screened not pre-screened. She never in our lengthy conversation when setting this appointment said this. I directly asked her 3 times in our intial conversation on the phone reiterating " I will be paid 50.00 whether I am accepted or rejected?" Her response to all three was yes. Before arranging my transportation to this office which is 63 miles from my home, I even called her back that same day a few hours later and confirmed the above conversation again. I would have NEVER agreed to this arrangement of traveling 2 hours approx. and 63 miles for 25.00. Further more her continued response as she denied our initial conversation varied between outright laughing at me, and asked me if I had a hearing problem, and intimidated me because as she was saying this her physical movements were becoming aggressive .(stomping her feet raising her voice and swing her arms very fast) and she was starting to yell. At this point, I immediately walked out, and got in my carDesired Settlement: I am requesting the remainder of the agreed upon payment which was denied to me after performing in full the service they requested . This amount is 25.00.

In response to the compliant,UnionSquare Medical Associates an affiliate of [redacted] established in 1986,works to broaden the scope of health and wellness by conducting clinical trials. Those who show interest are advised of the pre-screening parameters, eligibility, and the entire process is performed on a voluntary basis. When individuals come to our office for any pre-screening assessments, we inform them that if they decide to participate and sign an informed consent form, they will be compensated, as outlined in the consent they signed. If an individual is found to be ineligible, reimbursement for time and travel may be provided. Only those who have been found eligible and sign the consent form are compensated, as outlined in the informed consent form.

We believe the complainant misunderstood the process, as it was explained both verbally and via email. Though, we made every effort to reiterate to the complainant, as to why they would not be compensated as expected, we did as stated "reimburse for the time and travel".

You will see the email attached, which includes the informed consent document, sent to the complainant prior to their office visit, as proof of our efforts to be forthright.
