Unique Motors, Inc. Reviews (1)

The motor malfunctioned after having the car for barely a year. I have kept up on preventative work for the vehicle. Unique Motors refused to rectify.I bought a Chrysler Pacifica in May of 2012 from Unique Motors, barely a year ago and the motor went on my vehicle. They have refused to make the situation right. I bought from them because they advertised helping families who could not get a loan somewhere else. Now I still owe on the car and I am left in a worse predicament than I was last year. When I asked them to make things right they refused saying that is just how it goes sometimes. I knowingly bought a used vehicle expecting to put money into minor repairs such as hoses, breaks, even a radiator, but never expected that in a years time I would have to replace the motor; leaving the vehicle unusable. I am a single working mom left with no vehicle and no way to get to work and these people refuse to rectify or take responsibility for the fact that they sold me a lemon. One would not expect to owe over $9,000 on a car that will not run.Desired SettlementI want Unique Motors to make things right. They need to replace the vehicle with one that is not a lemon.Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted]Contact Phone: [redacted]Contact Email: [redacted]On Friday September 27th , 2013 [redacted] came in to Unique Motors to speak with the service department about an issue with her 2005 Chrysler Pacifica that she purchased on May 30th 2012 with 76,633 miles. [redacted] explained how she was driving on the highway in upstate Vermont when the vehicle stopped running, and at that time she noticed it was overheating. The temperature gauge was all the way hot(in the red) she stated. At that time she had the vehicle towed. The shop she took the vehicle to stated it needed an engine, it was melted and the head gasket blown. I checked to see if she had purchased an extended warranty, she declined to purchase one at time of purchase of the vehicle. We haven't seen [redacted] in our service department in over 14 months. The vehicle came with a 60 day or 2,500 mile warranty. [redacted] didn't know the exact mileage but said it was well over a 100,000 on the vehicle at this time. I proceeded with looking up how much it cost to replace with a used motor. I told her approx $2900. She told me she had no money. Then I looked up trade value on vehicle to see if we could trade her out of the vehicle. She told me she still owed $9000 on vehicle which now has over a 100,000 miles on it. This vehicle with a blown motor is worth a lot less then the payoff amount. At that time I told [redacted] I don't know how I can help her, without her having any money to put towards fixing the situation. At that time her attitude changed and she barked at me " You ARE going to help!" Then she proceeded to yell at me, not listening to me when ever I tried to answer her questions or even to ask her a question. She made threats saying she was going to go to every news channel that would talk to her. I tried over and over again to explain to her that in order for an engine to melt, the vehicle was driven very hot and long enough to melt it. A mechanical part failed, ie water pump, thermostat, radiator, or as simple as a bad radiator hose, causing vehicle to overheat. It was her neglect to either keep driving, or to not notice that engine was very hot until engine was too badly damaged. But to her this was not her fault. She wanted us to put an engine in for free. She said we should be responsible as long as she has a loan on her vehicle. I informed her that's how long she is responsible for it! I told her I would inform my owner to the matter. On Oct 3, 2013 I spoke with [redacted] on the telephone, I again tried to explained to her that this is from a failed mechanical part that cause her vehicle to overheat and her neglect and/or abuse to keep driving and not to notice the vehicle as it was overheating . I told her we will not put a free engine in her vehicle. I offered again that we could replace engine for $2900 with a used motor with similar miles. Again she said I have no money! Then she said we should give her a $9000 vehicle and take hers back. I tried to explain that we couldn't do that. At that time [redacted] ended the conversation. To sum it up [redacted] has had the vehicle for almost a year and a half, and she has lead us to believe that she has put 30,000 miles or more on the vehicle during this time. After all this time and miles I don't understand how [redacted] feels she could hold us responsible.
