I have my own equipment from a previous alarm company set up and just want a new company to monitor the system for me. Called in and was told the monthly cost but was never told it was for 36 months nor was it in the contract that I signed when the tech came out. They called me a few days later after setup informing it was for 36 months and asked me to sign a new contract which I did not sign. Why do I have to sign up for 36 months to pay for equipment that I have already provided?. Secondly, I called in to set my master code as they provided a temporary one as the tech came out on a weekend and United has to set up the mastercode but they don't work on the weekends...I called in Monday to change it and the guy only asked for my name and address, not even a verbal password and made all the changes for me....anyone can get that information if they wanted, this is a breach of privacy.

I had security installed at my home location and the technicians dissembled my intercoms, I complained about it and the tech can't repair it now.
I had united alarms come in to my home to install security and they dissembled my intercoms. I had asked them to repair it and the tech said he can't, now im without intercoms. I was in an *** and have no income so I ask to cancel the contract for my home, so they did and for many months I have no security and now they want me to pay for those months. I explained to them that I have no money and they are threatening me to take me to collections. I talk to customer service when I cancelled they were ok with it and now they are not. ***

Alarm system device does not last long and they charge for servicing their unit....
The motion detector started triggering the alarm. I asked united alarm to service the unit and they said they charge 70 plus which is unreasonable since we are in contract with them for years... they said it was written in the fine print which should have been verbally disclose instead of looking for it in the fine print...that there is a service fee for sending a technician....and also in regards to their warranty it is for a year but it seems like after a year their equipment broke down... this is a money pit for repairs and equipment replacement and they want to charge alot to break a contract because their service is not up to standards ***

I called to cancel after being a customer for over 10 years. (Zero callouts, calls up to 10-15 minutes after a false alarm)
They informed me that I was still under contract and that there was really nothing that I could do, other than recruit a new customer to take over the contract. I have canceled lots of contracts when selling this house and United Alarm are the only ones that would not do anything for me. Not only that, the 'manager' Linda, threatened to post my contract with a verbal promise that she would ruin me and the company I work for online if I left a negative review. I do not and will not be bullied by this company. In all my years, I have never been treated like this by any person, let alone a company.
Do yourself a favour, and run, don't walk from this company.

Business billed us for a year and a half for services they weren't even providing us. Then continued to bill us after contract expired.
Our company took over a lease from another company for our building, and so we took over the contract for the security system as well. We paid for it for a year and a half before finding out the system wasn't even working.
When we went to this company to resolve this, they said there was nothing we would do and we couldn't leave the contract (signed by the tenant before us) until June 2018. So we continued paying for an unactive alarm system until June 2018.
At the end of June, we called back to cancel the contract and "services" (or lack-there-of) and thought that was the last of it.
It is now January 15th 2019 and we just found out we have still been billed from June until now for an UNACTIVE ALARM SYSTEM.

I went upgrade my system and the sales person cancelled my appointment twice. Both times I left work to be home for this meeting.

Called the United Alarms to speak to a manager and they did not return my call.

I sent in a 30 day cancellation notice for termination May 1st and they stopped monitoring the system the day they received the letter. Then they charge me for monitoring for the month of May. They justified what they did by "wording" of the contract and cancellation agreement.

They said that there is a 90 day notice and they gave me break. After 12 years and United failed in all areas of customer service, I am left to warn others not to use this mismanaged company.

This a *** organization, They monitored for me 2 locations, one with contract and the other with no contract, that can be cancel at any time... After sale of one location, they refused to stop charging me for two locations, and they threaten me with Collecting agency if I will not continue pay them, there's manager agree to correct the problem, how ever owners are very deceptive and they do not have any business integrity...Please do not do business with this *** organization, because You will regreted......Nick *** XXX XXX-XXXX

I moved away from Calgary in September. I attempted to cancel my subscription verbally on Aug 31st and was reminded of the need for a written cancellation 3 months in advance. I sent a cancellation on their website contact email that day. They continued to charge me and fight and I ended up paying for six months instead of three. My advice - do not do business with this company.

Company is Fraudulently OVER BILLING customers 2-3 months of extra service that is not required & has been cancelled in writing AND not under contract
I requested their services were no longer required and the stop charging me immediately on February 8th 2017 both verbally to their Operations manager and through email and registered mail. The contract term was originally 38 months from November 12/2011, as a result, it was met and expired over 2 years ago. I have received recent notices (and they suggested they would over bill me on the day I cancelled their services) from this company suggesting that I will be invoiced for services I am not requesting or are required for 3 ADDITOINAL months, February, March, and all of April, eventhough I cancelled these services at the beginning of February. I have noticed in the past from the BBB that this company has attempted to over-bill other customers for services no longer required and are not under contract (most recent complaint on BBB

I purchased an alarm system from this company 3 years ago. When I purchased the system I had them note on the contract I wanted to keep my system. This was the only reason I decided to use United Alarm. At the end of my 3 year contract I cancelled my service and was allowed to keep my system. What I was not told was that every 8 hours or so, there is an ear piercing screeching tone from the system letting you know that you lost communication to the *** *** Myself and my family were woken up at 2am on March 9th, 2017 and again during the day March 9th.

I called and spoke with Rodrigo *** (Accounts Manager) and Satina *** (Customer Service). They both advised me they would communicate this within the company and that it would "not happen again". However this does not help me in being out 80$ for the service call and losing sleep over this ordeal. When I spoke with Rodrigo, he refused to let me speak with a higher level Manager. He said I could expect to call into *** and ask to speak to *** ***

This situation has affected me in an extraordinaire way. When I woken up last night at 2am I was unable to go back to sleep. I was sure that someone had broken into my house. My mother who is staying with me was extremely frightened. I also for the next 24 hours, as off March9th, 17 have to wait for a tech to come out and enter in a few digits on a key pad and is charging me 80$ for this service.

It was not in my contract, it was not communicated to me in anyway after cancelling. Now I am being held hostage to an alarm system to by one of the most un professional and horrible alarm companies I have ever had to deal with.

I have a long unsolved issue with United Alarm system in my home. Back in 2012 I had ordered an alarm system from United Alarm. They came to install the system for me with a 3 years contract. The first 6 months or so everything was fine but then after 6 months the signal stopped working, connection was lost. I called them and they instructed me to reset on the phone. It worked. Then the same issue happened again. This time nothing worked. I was told they had to send the technician out, but I would had to pay for the labour. It was like $75/ hour. I got upset and got into an argument with them as it did not make sense for me to pay to fix their brand new devices while i'm on a contract.

I stopped paying my bill since because there is no active monitoring at my house with their defective devices. Now they sent me to a collection agent. Now they said my bill is $2435.
