I am rejecting this response because: the policy initially starts with United America Financial.  The primary reason for the delay in the processing of my policy was due to negligence on United America Financial behalf.  I spoke with a representative from [redacted] (underwriter) who informed me of the first payment was not received until August 25, 2014.  As mentioned in my complaint, I sign up for this coverage January 2014 and [redacted] did not received the application until July 10, 2014 with an effective date of September 12, 2014.  Monies for this coverage was deducted by United America Financial starting July 2014.  This policy has a 14 day elimination period which means that the policy should have been effective July 24, 2014. This is unacceptable.

Review: I signed up for short term disability insurance via my employer through payroll deduction on November 12, 2012. I received a letter stating that my policy would become effective after receipt of first payment which was November 26, 2012. I submitted a claim for short term disability in December 2012 in which I was denied for a pre-existing condition in which I never had. I was off sick from work for a major surgery that I had. My policy # [redacted] was never sent to me in mail and I was never explained this provision when I initially signed-up for the short term disability. I never received a copy of my policy and I was also told that my policy did not become effective until January 11, 2013 when I spoke to a representative on the phone. I felt my disability payments should have been paid to me because I was incapaciated for two months from work. I believe fraud has transpired between consumer and business.Desired Settlement: I would like United America Financial to pay me 1600 which is 800.00 per month. I elected 800 per month for my disability income and I was off work for two months.

Review: August 27, 2014 I was denied disability insurance by [redacted], the underwriter for United America Financial. The denial letter states that the claim was filed prior to the effective date of the policy which is September 12,2014. I applied January 2014 and was totally unaware of the fact the policy was never processed. I received a proposal with a recap of the amount that I elected, the allotment amount, and information pertaining to the policy on January 24, 2014. I contacted United America Financial to resolve this issue only to find that my agent, Mr. Paul E[redacted] never processed the policy due to licensure issues. Here it is September 2014, and I'm just being made aware of this issue. I spoke with Ms. Shakeal N[redacted] to see how the matter could be resolved and was told that due to the non payment of the allotment that there is nothing they could do to assist me. This issue is totally due to United America Financial lack of professionalism and negligence. I had no control over these circumstances and should not received this treatment. I have life insurance through this company as well and never had a problem with them receiving payment besides, it comes out of my paycheck. September 2, 2014 my doctor informed me that due to the neck injury I suffered on July 31, 2014, I will not be able to returned to my current position(Bus Operator). I now have to find another position within the company and have no idea how long it will be before I returned to work. July 21, 2014 I received an approval from the insurance company and I was totally confused. I tried contacting Mr. E[redacted], left several messages and never received a call back. The application is dated June 28, 2014, which is fraudulent. I applied for the insurance January 2014. There is clearly someone else's handwriting on the application for that date. The policy states that there is a 14 day elimination period in which the policy is effective. If this is so, I should still be covered under my current policy which was approved July 21.Desired Settlement: Because the situation was due to United America Financial discrepancies, I would like to received the $1500 monthly benefit that I elected. If this isn't possible, I no longer wish to continue service with United America Financial and would like to receive a refund for monies paid for the disability insurance to date.
