United Asphalt Paving

We dealt with AP Blacktop but United Asphalt Paving and AP Blacktop are run by the same people - John. He came to our house and since he had done our neighbors driveway, he told us he had left over materials to chip and seal our driveway at a discount instead of taking home. We agreed. This was around the first of Jan 2019. I finally got an invoice and asked if there was a warranty. He informed me there was a year warranty and if anything went wrong in that year he would fix it. This was on Jan 21, 2019. Things went very wrong with our driveway. We communicated a lot as to when he would fix our driveway, I sent him pictures of the problems. He kept promising to fix it. He never came to fix our driveway. We finally agreed on Jan 30, 2020 that he would send me a check for 3,000.00 and the issue would be resolved. Again, lots of promises of when he would send the check. I initiated a delay on sending a check with the covid 19 outbreak until June 1, 2020. In contacted him that date and he text me he would put a check in the mail that week. I have never received a check. According to my experience, I could not recommend using this company. He does subpar work and never keeps his promises.

shows up in our neighborhood (5 acre lots with long driveways) telling people that he just did a major asphalt job and has left over asphalt. He will pave your driveway for a really good price. Within 15 minutes of agreeing to do a small part of our driveway two large trucks and a dump truck roll up with large equipment: a steam roller, bulldozer and a crew of 8 people. They begin the small job and John offers a slightly better price to continue. I take the offer. Our neighbor comes out, impressed with the equipment and he agrees to have his driveway done the next day.
We are promised 3 inches of asphalt after he grates the existing driveway. By lunch the next day it's done and looks fairly good.
One month later grass is growing through the asphalt on the sides. John never gave me an invoice - they jumped to my neighbor in a frenzy. I called for a copy of the invoice - 10 minutes later I called back to mention a detail on the invoice and he has blocked my number. The number on the web site goes directly to John's cell phone.
I get his email address - Yahoo, and send him the same message in an e-mail. No response.
I searched Revdex.com and found this complaint in Missouri, similar issue, same name: [Revdex.com(dot)***contractors/asphalt-paving-stl].
It appears this guy just moves from state to state pushing his scam ways and taking people's money. "Buyer beware" and I was stupid, but something needs to be done. He took a lot of money from my neighborhood, did sub-par work, claimed a warranty and now will not respond to anyone.
He needs to be prosecuted for fraud.
