United Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Reviews (1)

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2015/06/25) */
[redacted] came into my business on 8/20/2014, unsolicited, and inquired about our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program. He informed my manager that he really wanted to learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and he had researched schools in the area and felt I was...

the most qualified black belt. All people that ask about our program are given a flyer with the class schedule and pricing as well as the rules and regulations page. [redacted] looked over the information for about 15 minutes and decided to sign up. We offer programs with daily rates, month-to-month, 3 month, and 6 month options as well as 1,2,and 3 year contract options. Of his own free will he chose to sign up for the one-year contract. The actual sign up fees for a one-year contract are:
- $130 for the first month tuition (the remaining months are taken out automatically from bank account)
- $60 processing fee
- $205 for the uniforms which include a gi w/belt, rash guard, and board shorts
- $17.50 for the first month gym membership (if chosen)
- The total down payment should have been $412.50
He negotiated himself:
- $120 a month tuition
- $0 processing fee
- $205 uniform cost
- $0 for a gym membership for a year (valued at $210)
- The down payment was $325 of which he paid $80 at the time of signing up
- He paid an additional $45 on October 6, 2014, with a promise to pay the remaining balance of $200 by December 1, 2014.
- The balance of $200 is still outstanding.
It was brought to my attention that [redacted] was unhappy with our rules and regulations so I had a casual conversation with him about how he felt. He was passionate [redacted] not wanting to participate in our rules and regulations especially bullet point #7 that states "Students will keep their school clean at all times - We are looking for 2 volunteers at the end of class to mop down the mat area." After listening to him I told him not to worry about it because they are not enforced. I told him I would see him in class on Monday. He never returned to the studio.
We received a call from [redacted] asking for a copy of his contract:
- He was told that he received a copy when he signed up but we would not have a problem sending him another copy.
- I, [redacted], made a copy for him and mailed it to his address of record on 11/04/2014.
- A volunteer of mine made another copy and put them in the mail to him on April 2015.
- Both letters were mailed via USPS with a return address and his address. We did not receive either one of those letters back so we have to assume that the postal service delivered as expected.
- Upon receiving the complaint letter from Revdex.com in which he stated never having received a copy of his contract, I made another copy of his contract and mailed it to him via Certified Mail.
[redacted] has always been welcome to come into the studio and train:
- It has been his choice to not engage in the classes he signed up for.
- Instead he has chosen an avenue of libel and slandering myself and my business reputation, falsifying the truth, and outright lying.
- None of the other members are aware of the situation or the conversation that I had with him. The only people that know are myself and my staff, which totals 3 people.
- Everything he said has been a fabrication and is untrue.
From the very beginning until now we have always handled ourselves with integrity and in a professional manner while dealing with his allegations.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 10, 2015/07/02) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I do not accept there response. there is no bullet point #7 on the contract he sent also I do not see any proof that he sent me a copy of he contract the only copy I have seen is once I have contacted the Revdex.com I also have a witness who attends the school of [redacted] on how I was being mistreated I also have cleaned up the studio before and prior to the incident. can [redacted] explain on how to cancel or how canceling the contract works? I all ready sent in a letter via ups certified mail asking to cancel my contract on april XX XXXX I uploaded my proof of sending [redacted] this letter to the Revdex.com he still has not canceled my contract or done a stop of payment he has not contacted me not even on his response to the Revdex.com he continues to go around the subject and ignores me this does not sound very professional as he claims to be I have been more then patient with [redacted] but he as been very unsatisfactory I regret ever coming to this school it has caused me way to much stress I don't trust [redacted] I don't even feel safe returning to his school
