We arrived for originally scheduled service appointment to clean and inspect chimney. Upon inspection areas with defect were identified, all findings were reported to [redacted].  Necessary repairs were discussed with [redacted], cost for repairs was fully discussed and agreed upon by [redacted]...

[upon placing the order I specifically instructed United Chimney that no additional services were desired beyond the cleaning of one flue. This is a classic case of unethical upselling where United Chimney told my wife that unnecessary repairs to the flashing were required and sold her the cleaning of flues that I had already said I did NOT want cleaned. Using unethical scare tactics United Chimney turned a $70.00 service call into a $500 service call. United Chimney's behavior in this situation is more reflective of a sleazy used car dealership than an ethical business operation.

Review: I contracted with United Chimney to clean one flue in my home and specifically told them I did not want any other flues cleaned when I placed the order. They came to my house at the agreed time and proceeded to tell my wife that water was leaking into my house due to bad flashing and since it was raining heavily that day the problem needed to be corrected immediately. My wife was dealing with her invalid mother at the time and due to concerns about the possible damage agreed to the service. There was no evidence that there was flashing damage or roof leakage despite the fact that there had been heavy thunderstorms that day and the previous day. No water damage or leaks into any rooms in the house. We were charged for roof repairs and 3 flues cleaned when I only contracted for one. I called the company and they informed me there would be no refund forthcoming.Desired Settlement: A refund of $430 for the "additional services" that were not part of the original agreement.
