[There is no unauthorized access to the Elevator Mechanical Room. The company was incapable of adequately servicing the elevator, and the elevator mechanic is mis-representing the situation. No documentation was provided by company, and no tenants have access to this space or are resetting the elevator.]

To Whom This May Concern:We have received a copy of the complaint # *** filed by *** *** of * *** *** *** on March 10, 2018.As the Account Manager of this account - I had spoken to our licensed elevator mechanic who provides the routine bi-monthly preventative maintenance to this
elevator. He informed the office that in more than one occasion he found the Elevator Machine Room door left-open during his site visits. He had a conversation with building tenants and learned these individuals routinely "re-set the elevator main circuit panel (themselves) - when the elevator would shut-down". United Elevator has serious concern about public safety and this breach of contract. By allowing non-authorized personnel to access this Elevator Machine Room is against OUR service contract and the Commonwealth of MA - Elevator Regulations.(1) Elevator Machine Rooms are to be locked at ALL times.(2) A sign is required "No Unauthorized Personnel" is required on this locked Machine Room door.(3) Only LICENSED persons may be permitted to engage , inspect, operate, repair, any hoistway equipment…United Elevator's - Department of Public Safety - Elevator Division license is subject to review if there is any breach of public safety or injury from use of this lift-equipment.There is high-voltage equipment in all elevator machine-rooms which may lead to electrocution to unauthorized individuals. There is also a major risk of a building fire IF the circuit panel is repeatedly re-set causing the wiring to overheat.Also, immediate bodily injury could occur should the circuit-panel re-set with body-parts between moving elevator parts. Senior management at United Elevator believed this flagrant disregard of public-safety needed immediate cancellation of our future service to this customer. TERMS AND CONDITIONS9. Purchaser agrees to provide UECO unrestricted, ready and safe access, including off-hours emergency calls, to all areas of the building in which any part of the equipment is located and to keep all machine rooms and pit areas free from water, stored material and excessive debris. Purchaser agrees to provide a safe work place for UECO’s personnel or contractors and to remove any hazardous materials in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Purchaser agrees to restrict access to the equipment to only UECO’s authorized personnel. During the term of this Agreement, Purchaser agrees not to permit others to make alterations, additions, adjustments, repairs or replacements to the equipment. If needed, a full-copy of our Service Agreement with * *** *** *** will be provided to support our claim of this breach of contract.In my six years of employment with United Elevator - I have only had to cancel service to one (1) other client. In this other case, our licensed elevator mechanic knew someone (else) was tampering with the elevator equipment within the Elevator Machine Room - thus creating a future public safety concern.
