Review: At near close of escrow, important documents needed to be notarized by a deadline. we could not be available during the day they wanted us to come in, but documents were not due that day. to satisfy their haste, they offered to come to our house for notary and we accepted. they had never informed us upfront how much this would cost, if anything, then we found out after close of escrow they had charged us $250 for notarizing a few signatures. another escrow company we had used before had informed us United Escrow had liberally overcharged us for pretty much everything. we were naive at the time, but know better now.Desired Settlement: if possible a refund would be satisfactory, but also that this business should be scrutinized in their billing practices of placing questionable fees or at the very least, charging liberally whatever they'd like to charge for basic services [redacted]dled by escrow companies. their gravest mistake was to offer a service, giving impression that it was complimentary, then quietly charge a significant amount at a point it would be difficult to prove the assertion that they cheated us.
