United Financial Resources Reviews (5)

Review: [redacted] charged my husband and I $2,400 to file an application to our bank to have them lower our mortgage rate so that we did not have our home go into foreclosure. He has not done this and in accordance with his money-back contract that we signed, we have been trying to get a refund. He will not show up to the appointments we made with his office and he will not return phone calls and voice mails we made asking for him to return our money. My husband and I have since seen on the internet that he has been ordered to 'decease and desist' taking money from people - this was dated Oct 2013. We are trying to get our money repaid as we are now 'LOSING OUR HOME'! Please help us in any way that you can. We are at a loss for what to do to re-coop our money.Desired Settlement: We would like to receive a refund for $2400. We have a signed contract and he did not deliver on the services he promised.

To Whom It May Concern:

I am asking for your support and am filing a complaint against United Financial Resources. They are a licensed loan modification company, located at [redacted]. Their phone number is ([redacted].

In August 2012, my mom and I saw signs posted on highways. The sign said “2% Loan Modification. Stop Foreclosure”. It provided the following phone number - ([redacted] . This number belonged to [redacted], their company’s agent. We contacted [redacted] who came out to our house. He was so upset that we were paying [redacted] $5,011.00 monthly – interest only. [redacted] highly recommended UFR and said that he was positive that they would work on securing a loan modification that would free us of this outrageous payment and that he was available at any time to answer any questions.

On August 25, 2012, we met with [redacted], president. [redacted] was outraged to know that we were paying [redacted] an interest only payment of $5,011.00 and said: “This is outrageous! I guarantee you that no one but I will handle your case. Your payment according to my calculations should not be more than $2,255.00 a month, including principal, interest, taxes and insurance. This is what you are going to get.” We were so pleased with his tenacity to handle our case that we wrote a down payment check (#4643) in the amount of $3,500.00. At this time I asked him if we would get the money back if the loan modification was denied by [redacted]. [redacted] stated: “It is illegal for any loan modification company to accept any money upfront. This money will be put in a trust account. When and only when your loan modification is approved and it will be, will we take the money. If your loan modification is denied, you will definitely get your money back, no questions asked.” We left very satisfied.

We did not hear anything from UFR for weeks. We finally called and I scheduled an appointment with [redacted], office manager. I shared with her at [redacted] was handling our case and that we came for an update. She was appalled that he made that claim. [redacted] said: “That is not [redacted]’s job. I process loan modifications and handle all the paperwork. I will have a very serious conversation with him.” She did produce our file and said that all paperwork had been submitted.

For eight months, we heard nothing from [redacted], [redacted], [redacted], [redacted], [redacted], [redacted], or [redacted]. Instead, I called to talk with them on the phone or my mom and I drove to their office monthly for an update. We only met with [redacted] on these occasions and he said everything was running according to protocol.

On April 10, 2013, we received a letter from [redacted] stating that our loan modification was denied. [redacted] stated: “In reviewing your loan for a possible modification we have determined that your loan does not qualify for a loan modification because the current unpaid principal balance of you loan is higher than the program limit of $729,750 for a one unity property, $934,200 for a two unit property, $1,129,250 for a three unit property and $1,403,400 for a four unit property….” I immediately called UFR and scheduled a meeting with [redacted]. At the meeting I asked if we would be refunded our deposit, since the loan modification was denied. [redacted] said the following: “Writing you a refund check is a simple solution and one that I would be happy to do. However, I would like for you and your mom to consider giving me an opportunity to move into a second phase. I am asking that you consider falling behind in your payment for no more than 60 days. This will show [redacted] that you are facing financial difficulties and I guarantee you they will seriously consider giving you a loan modification. This process will take time and a lot of work. However, if you decide that you no longer want to move forward and would like a refund check issued, then all you have to do is write me a letter to that effect.” My mom and I talked about it for a long time. On April 20, 2013, we wrote [redacted] a letter requesting a refund. [redacted] has communicated and has e-mailed me several times with the following statement only: “Please let us finish the job.”

I am requesting that you please help us in securing our refund of $3,500. This is a lot of money of us to loose. Your support is appreciated!!Desired Settlement: I would like the deposit check in the amount of $3,500 refunded.

Review: United Financial Resources ([redacted]) promised to help us obtain a mortgage loan modification. On 6/23/13 we met with [redacted] about a loan modification. He promised that he could cut our mortgage payments down by $1,500 if we paid him $2,995. We paid [redacted] $300 on 6/23/13, and $1,000 on 7/5/13. We also gave him all our personal information needed for the loan modification. He told us on several occassions that he had been in contact with our mortgage company and forwarded the documents and he would have an answer about the loan modification in 3 weeks (July 17, 2013). We checked with the mortgage complany several times and they said no one had contacted them or sent documentation to them about a loan modification. Mr. [redacted] did not contact our mortgage company until 7/29/13 and only after he could not collect any more money from us. By then we realized it was a scam and did not send him any more money. On 8/13/13, we sent Mr. [redacted] a certifified letter requesting a full refund of $1,300 and our personal documentation by 9/3/13 and he has not done so as of 9/18/13.Desired Settlement: I would like to receive a refund of $1,300 and all of our personal information that was given to Mr. [redacted] to receive a loan modification.

Review: We were working with this company for a loan modification. Promises were made. Once they started to receive my payments for their services. I could not reach them by phone or email. I was promised a money back guarentee if the modification was denied. It was denied and I can't get anyone on the phone and my monies have not been refunded.Desired Settlement: I would like my monies returned.
