propertyWe do not direct the scope of repairWe do not warranty work done by contractors selected by homeowners to repair Insured damages.With respect to this claim the ***’s chose All Seasons Roofing, who ultimately completed the work in May of During the scope of repair, there were conversations between Ms*** and the roofing contractor regarding the scope of work to be doneThe replaced roof was the original roof and was over years oldUnited Heritage paid the entire claim, less the***’s' deductibleWe did not direct All Seasons on the scope of work to be doneThere was not an agreement between the All Seasons and United Heritage to “knock off $for not replacing the metal” nor did United Heritage receive any monies from the contractor.On July 18, 2016, we were contactedby All Seasons RoofingThe ***’s' paintingcontractor alleged that there was damage to the siding and OSB sheathing caused by improper installation of the roofAdjusters from our office met with Mr***and a representative from All Seasons roofing on July19, 2016, to inspect the home We communicated the following to Mr. *** regarding that inspection:"During our inspection we were able to confirm that there are some issues with rain water compromising the siding and fascia in a few areas of your home and roof Our inspection of the chimney area shows that the flashing that was originally installed when the roof was built was not adequate and was allowing rain water to seep into the siding You confirmed that the chimney leaked prior to the claim being reported to our company Unfortunately, this issue appears to be preexisting to our policy inception and to construction defect.We also confirmed the fascia rot is preexisting and unrelated to this hail storm claimThe siding damage near the garage also appears to be related to improper flashing originating from when the house was constructed. While the corrective repairs recommended by your contractor appear to be reasonable, your policy does not extend coverage for preexisting conditions, long term water damage including rot and construction or design defects.As you can confirm with the settlement check, United Heritage paid for the full amount of the hail damage claim less your deductible As it appears, All Seasons Roofing may not have done the full scope of work listed on their estimate, you should follow up with All Seasons Roofing for a credit of work not performed or make arrangements for them to complete the full scope of work in their estimate.It is our understanding that All Seasons Roofing has or will contact Mr*** to complete any work that was estimated and paid for to the extent that it had not been completed when the roof was replaced
