I paid them my amount of rent one month, and they 'lost' the checkWhen they asked for the money again, I pointed out that the bank had shown the check cashed by United Management, and had provided images that showed signatures endorsing the backs of the checksThe lame excuse they provided was a 'new computer system that sometimes doesn't log things,' although that didn't stop them from sending several threateningly worded letters asking that I pay them or be faced with legal actionEvery time I tried to call and have the records about the 'missing' rent changed, they acted as though they had never heard of me before When I tried to get out of that dump, the manager threatened to have me arrested because the moving pods were parked in the courtyard of the building, not blocking the doors, and I had already received consent from any residents whose windows would be blocked by themI also had the super's permission, but he acted like he never talked to me when the manager questioned him, so he's a weasel, but whatever Then, when I tried to claim my security deposit, they insisted I could have none of it since I had painted two rooms and not painted them backI informed them that the super had given me permission since the entire apartment had to be renovated anywayThey said the super told them he had said no such thing, so weasel again, but whateverThey claimed the repaint of two rooms would cost $1,and that's why I couldn't have any of the deposit backWhen I accused them of thievery and fraud and that I would seek mediation or legal intervention, they refunded half of the deposit I was so happy to quit that place I decided to cut my losses and leave When the manager laughed that because he owns so many properties that I might very well rent from him again, I laughed in his ear (on the phone) and said "Not if I can help it." But that's United Management in a nutshell: Lazy, opportunistic, money-grubbing, unprofessional, conniving, deceitful, and cowardly Boom

I paid them my normal amount of rent one month, and they 'lost' the check. When they asked for the money again, I pointed out that the bank had shown the check cashed by United Management, and had provided images that showed signatures endorsing the backs of the checks. The lame excuse they provided was a 'new computer system that sometimes doesn't log things,' although that didn't stop them from sending several threateningly worded letters asking that I pay them or be faced with legal action. Every time I tried to call and have the records about the 'missing' rent changed, they acted as though they had never heard of me before.
When I tried to get out of that dump, the manager threatened to have me arrested because the moving pods were parked in the courtyard of the building, not blocking the doors, and I had already received consent from any residents whose windows would be blocked by them. I also had the super's permission, but he acted like he never talked to me when the manager questioned him, so he's a weasel, but whatever.
Then, when I tried to claim my security deposit, they insisted I could have none of it since I had painted two rooms and not painted them back. I informed them that the super had given me permission since the entire apartment had to be renovated anyway. They said the super told them he had said no such thing, so weasel again, but whatever. They claimed the repaint of two rooms would cost $1,280 and that's why I couldn't have any of the deposit back. When I accused them of thievery and fraud and that I would seek mediation or legal intervention, they refunded half of the deposit.
I was so happy to quit that place I decided to cut my losses and leave.
When the manager laughed that because he owns so many properties that I might very well rent from him again, I laughed in his ear (on the phone) and said "Not if I can help it."
But that's United Management in a nutshell: Lazy, opportunistic, money-grubbing, unprofessional, conniving, deceitful, and cowardly.
Boom.

The United Management company is incredibly rude and disrespectful. Specifically the employee Yolanda F[redacted] who refused to listen to or acknowledge my complaint. I was put on hold anytime I began explaining my situation and afterwards hung up on twice. Please see my experience below. Do not rent from or trust this management company!
I am a tenant in one of United Management's properties in Brooklyn, NY. I identified a leak in my bathroom ceiling about 2-3 months ago and notified the owner of the apartment. She took the appropriate steps and contacted the super of the building. He was given access to my apartment to assess the leak and was unable to access the apartment directly above me despite 2-3 reported attempts (he claimed the upstairs tenant was not at home). The leak continued and progressively got worse. I again contacted the owner of the apartment who again notified the super who proceeded to do nothing with my request for service. Over the next few weeks, the paint followed by the ceiling began to give in and my ceiling above my bathroom was on the verge of caving in and collapsing. I again notified the apartment owner who again contacted the super for the building. The super for the building refused to proceed until United Management was contacted. The owner of the apartment and I both called the contractor for the building for him to assess the extent of the damage. Despite me clearly writing on a piece of paper and verbally telling him my apartment and the apartment above me that were affected, the contractor went to the wrong apartment line and claimed that there was no leak! The leak continued to worsen. After a prolonged discussion with United Management in which they claimed the leak in the apartment above mine had been fixed several weeks prior, they agreed to send the same contractor over to check on the status of the leak. The contractor who works for the building/management company assured me that he personally fixed the leak. He personally viewed the damage to my ceiling and had an associate remove the piece of ceiling and paint that were damaged. They left a gaping hole in my ceiling (12/**) directly above my toilet and the wood and surrounding materials were still wet. They said that they would send someone to fix the ceiling on 12/** or 12/**. I stayed at home on 12/** and no repair person showed up. I began to notice that my apartment and especially the bathroom had unusual smells. Eventually I noticed that the floor around my toilet directly below the leak was wet and soiled. On 12/** I heard liquid falling from the ceiling after the upstairs tenant had used the rest room. On 12/** I again witnessed liquid falling from the gaping hole left in my ceiling. I put a tarp up after physically witnessing this. After each of these incidents, I notified the owner of the apartment who continued to maintain contact with the super of the building. I was told that a plumber would be coming to my house today on 12/** to fix the situation (3rd attempt at repairing the damage). On 12/** I woke up to the site and smell of feces streaming down my bathroom wall despite the tarp being in place. I notified the owner of the apartment and I notified the super. I explained to him the nature of my problem: notably HUMAN EXCREMENT falling from the ceiling and he informed me that this did not constitute an emergency and that I would have to wait until 12/** for the plumber to fix the leak (again 3rd attempt). I explained that it was not safe for me to be living in this situation and asked that a plumber come on 12/** to fix the leak. He said I would need to speak with management. I called United Management to escalate the issue further despite having taken the appropriate course of action. They hung up the phone on me. I called back and was placed on hold. I was then insulted and told that they did not need to communicate to me because I did not personally own the apartment that I am living in. They put me on hold again and stated that a plumber would be coming by that day (12/**) to assess and fix the leak (still 3rd attempt). The owner of the apartment called United Management as well and they told her the same thing. I returned home, cleaned the human excrement from the outside of my toilet, floor and wall and removed the tarp having been assured by the super via my owner that the leak had been repaired. This morning 12/** at around 6:30 am while I was using my bathroom, my upstairs neighbor decided to flush her toilet. Her urine fell like golden yellow raindrops from the sky all over me and my bathroom again. I almost vomited. I notified my owner of this. I left a set of my keys with the super's office this morning so that they would have access to my apartment. I called United Management at about 6:45 in the morning and left a message on their answering machine. I did not receive a call back from the company. I called again during business hours and again the person answering (Yolanda F[redacted]) acted as if she had never spoken to me nor knew of my complaint. She proceeded to put me on hold three different times in the middle of me explaining the situation to her. She had hung up the phone on me twice yesterday. At this point I am still waiting for a call back and to hear from either the super or United Management regarding the status of my repairs. I have filed a complained with NYC HPD (via 311) regarding my safety concerns. I am waiting to hear back from them as well.
