United Moving Company Reviews (%countItem)

on June 30th I hired this moving company to do a long distance move from CALIFORNIA to Oregon. I went through an extensive conversation taking measurements for all of my furniture to get an accurate quote. I was provided an itemized quote which was for $2777 resulted in me putting down $830 deposit.
I then sold 8 peices of furniture. 4 book cases and 3 lamps.
All was well untill the movers arrived on the last day we had to move out and informed us that our price would be double. If we said no our deposit would be forfeited. We would also have only 6 hours to book new movers and empty our house. After arguing for about an hour we concided we didn't have another viable option. We had to pay what they were demanding. We had to sign new paperwork for the new amount of $3968. We had been mislead and once it was too late to do anything else our price was raised by over $1200. We were told we could cancel but they would keep out deposit. This is very misleading business. I have requested from the company to meet us somewhere in the middle but they refuse. I beleive we are entitled to so.e sort of refund due to the un ethical price changing. I have all documents and email

Desired Outcome

Billing Adjustment I would like the quote to be honored. I have less than the original quote and it went up by $1200. I would like my $1200 back.

you were provided a quote based off of 607cf which is an estimated space reservation based off of the inventory you provided. When the carrier PRO MOVING & STORAGE LLC arrived at your home they advised you that some of the items were a little bigger than the average and the space reservation was going to be a little more and you also had a few items that were not listed on the inventory when you signed the estimate. The carrier charged you simply for the extra space you took up on the truck. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to us to resolve any matters.

I did not take up extra space. I sold 4 entire book cases and 3 lamps. I did not have additional items! I had less than I was originally quoted. The problem is that United Moving Co. Users misleading buisness practices by quoting extremely low to get a consumer to place a deposit then when it's too late to cancel with out losing this deposit the moving company doubles the price oupon pick up and the customer is stuck with the choice of loosing the deposit or coughing up the additional money. This is a lose lose situation for the customer. I was expected to chose between losing $850 and scrambling to find a truck to make the move ourselves or paying an additional $1200. Further more I am not the only one complaing about this exact issue. This company does it alot. it's their standard misleading bushes practice.

We do not under estimate we provide an estimate based off of the inventory the customer provides over the telephone. When the driver arrived PRO MOVING & STORAGE LLC some of the items were a little bigger than the average and the space reservation was going to be a little more and you also had a few items that were not listed on the inventory when you signed the estimate. If you have any additional questions please feel free to call customer service.

I have contacted customer service. I was told they would do nothing to rectify this situation. I had a quote done for everything in my house. Then I sold 4 bookcases, and 3 lamps. I added 1 item which was a small side table and just the metal frame, not the glass top. My furniture is mostly from ikea so none of it is larger than normal. I definatly did not have more than I was quoted.
United Moving company under bid the job because it locks me into the contract and forces me to pay whatever was demanded at the time of pick up. They quoted me $2777 and took an $830 deposit. If I had not sold the 7 large items that I did my mover would have actually cost over $5,000. I was forced to pay $3800 almost $1200 more than the quote and I didn't have 4 bookcases, 3 lamps and 4 medium moving boxes That were on the original quote. That is almost double what I was quoted. They under quote to get the contract then the consumer on moving day has to either pay the higher price or forefit the large deposit. They are misleading consumers with a small quote and then when its too late for the consumer to make other arrangements they raise the price and the consumer is left with the choice of paying more or forefiting the deposit and being left trying to rent a truck or hire movers at the last second. This is manulative and misleading buisness practices. Plain and simple they tip people off.
